I assume deep water is the main risk. No currents in such place. Could it have been prevented by swimming with a buddy?

We have a similar nice local swimming hole that is basically one incident away from a lifeguard installed and being cordoned off and shitty. So I'm with this guy. Maybe demolish the bridge because jumping into water from high is extremely dangerous.
