You aren't kidding. The list of Rock Bottom's factual inaccuracies has the highest joke-per-second ratio of any Simpsons episode.

Damn. Good observation there. And I thought I was a Simpsons fan.

I just wrote a series of articles on the Simpsons for UGO.com, I watched a massive amount of episodes that week. Not that I'm not a fan and all, but normally I wouldn't have notice it.

I think it's that the show has been bad for so long (almost as long as it was good) that it's hard to want to watch a scene that you're not immediately familiar with, for fear of it being a crappy recent ripoff of FAMILY GUY.

You can't ripoff a ripoff of yourself.

One thing is, that everyone's already seen this stuff. I'd rather watch new stuff than old clips that everybody knows by heart, no matter how brilliant.

Xeno - Family Guy ripped off the Simpsons, sure, but it also added completely awful comic pacing and non-sequitors in place of actual jokes or characterization. Unfortunately, the Simpsons' writers have been trying to catch up to the worst possible aspects of an inferior knockoff.
