The entire cantina scene is in another PoETV clip, but this one is a) in color, and b) just the TRUTH-TELLING part.

Pandatronic - 2007-10-09

Nerd rage is funny. That's what.

Camonk - 2007-10-10

I'ma five star this just cause you're being an insufferable twat.

Sean Robinson - 2007-10-10

Thank God you have the courage and willpower to whine because I didn't like something.

One day, this clip is going to win the Vidlympics (awarded by stars by your votes at home!) and it will be because a few brave men stood together and said, "No MORE!"

Thundercougarfalconbird - 2007-10-10

Characterization. Also, Han is a badass.

dancingshadow - 2007-10-10

Offsetting Vote. Why do people vote down things they don't understand or care about ?

FABIO2 - 2007-10-13

Who's a bigger whiner: the whiner or the whiner who follows him?

petep - 2007-10-13

what about the whiner following the whiner following the whiner f

5 stars because now i know what people are talking about when they say things?

oogaBooga - 2008-06-11

So the edited version sucks. Not just because it was changed, but even in the modern DVD it looks amazingly horrible how he jerks out of place for a second to "dodge".

Camonk - 2009-09-12

Oh man, I thought the insufferable twat thing was a temporary condition. Egg on my face, it turns out.

Repomancer - 2007-10-09

I bet you liked E.T. better with walkie-talkies, Sean.

Sean Robinson - 2007-10-09

I bet I maybe saw ET once when I was tiny and didn't really give a shit about it and haven't thought about it in any context as an adult, Repo.

Xiphias - 2007-10-10

I bet I love you, Sean.

Repomancer - 2007-10-12

Xiph, think of Sean's head, glazed in man-sweat.

Dr Dim - 2007-10-09

After we saw this, my mum told me "Shooting someone from under the table is very naughty." And I can honestly say I've never done it. Thanks mum.

Gill_Sans - 2007-10-09

Five stars for your mom.

Hooker - 2007-10-09

I want to one star this for the "who cares?" factor, but "oota goota, Solo?" is worth at least four.

Old_Zircon - 2007-10-09

I've never seen the edited version, thank god.

Sean Robinson - 2007-10-09

If God could use the Internet - he can't because he is allergic to glass - he would 1 star this video.

Benzene265 - 2007-10-09

They edited that scene out? Don't they need it to set up the whole Jabba subplot?

Adramelech - 2007-10-09

No, they changed it so that Greedo shot first, misses, then Han shot him from under the table. The effort to portray Han as a noble thief killing in self defense instead of a ruthless mercenary backfired by making him seem like a giant pussy.

Repomancer - 2007-10-10

If all Satan's demons could use the Internet -- and they can and do -- they would five star this video JUST TO PISS YOU OFF.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2007-10-10

This is important less for what it is than for what it represents--it's not a purely cosmetic change, it significantly changes the audience's perception of the character. Is it right for an artist to go back and alter previously completed work? Especially in film, which is such a collaborative art? What did Harrison Ford think of this? IT'S A CAN OF WORMS HERE PEOPLE. Also, no subtitles = better.

Hooker - 2007-10-10

In addition to being emblematic of George Lucas's terrible revisionist tendencies towards his franchise, it's _also_ emblematic of obsessive nerds horribly nitpicking even the most trivial details of Lucas's franchise.

So, two'fer.

Sean Robinson - 2007-10-10

I really like the image of someone showing their kids DVDs of the movies and spending the entire time sputtering, "NO! THAT ISN'T HOW IT WAS!"

While the children yawn at the old, dull movie and think about the damn fool things that kids think about.

Keefu - 2007-10-09

My inner nerd tells me to five star this

PegLegPete - 2007-10-09

Edited is fucking retarded.

Senator_Unger - 2007-10-09

I think the best band name I've ever heard was "Han Shot First."

theSnake - 2007-10-09

Nary a subtitle to be seen, beautiful.

coprolalia - 2007-10-10

They wouldn't take my word for it when I said they changed it.
Plus one star for the lack of subtitles, it really is a lot better.

Dummy Rum - 2007-10-10

I dunno, I'm inclined to agree with the approval of no subtitles, but I kind of miss the line "I've been waiting for this for a long time," right before Greedo chuckles.

kiint - 2007-10-10

RomancingTrain - 2007-10-10

I don't know why the newer version makes Han a pussy.

Bort - 2010-01-17

I don't know that it makes him a pussy, but since (in the original) we don't hear the other side of the conversation, we don't know for sure whether Han's life is in immediate danger or is he really a ruthless untrustworthy bastard. When you see "Star Wars" it shouldn't be a given at the beginning that he's got a heroic streak, so when he saves Luke at the end, there is at least a little bit of surprise.

The new version, with subtitles and Greedo shooting first, instead illustrates that Han only fires in self-defense, and only after all methods of peaceful resolution have been exhausted.

Uulanbaatorbaby - 2007-10-10

Real starwars fans need no subtitles. Or friends.

afp3683 - 2008-05-12

Hy Huttese is impeccable.

Xiphias - 2007-10-10

my license plate is HNSHT1ST you faggots

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2007-10-10

Lucas, you bastard. You're even wearing the SHIRT!

StanleyPain - 2007-10-10

To be fair, the scene was tinkered with again for the DVDs and the editing is tightened with Greedo and Han shooting at almost the exact same time. Still, a stupid decision, but it looks better in the latest version.

EvilHomer - 2007-10-10

Up until today, I wasn't even aware that this "who shot first" controversy existed. Now, one poeTV clip and a much too long Wikipedia entry later, I'm not sure whether to be proud of my staggering nerd-ignorance, or deeply, deeply ashamed.

boba. - 2007-10-10

i've still never seen a star wars movie

Bort - 2013-12-05

From the Wikipedia article:

Peter Mayhew, the actor who played Chewbacca in the original series, was asked in a Reddit AMA, "Mr Mayhew. Did Han really shoot first? You were there. You saw it first hand. The truth needs to come out!" His response was "uughghhhgh uughghhhgh huuguughghg."

glasseye - 2007-10-10

George Lucas killed my tomatoes.

Greedo never died

oh god.

afp3683 - 2008-02-28

How is it that I know what Greedo is saying for each of his lines?

Speaking Huttese is like an even greasier version of Klingon.

Goethe and ernie - 2008-10-05

I'll five-star this on the basis that George Lucas is a huge huge cunt for assuming that kids are so stupid they'll think shooting people first is what makes a man rad.

atheistgirl - 2008-11-27

Of course Han shot first.
If Greedo had have shot first surely he'd have hit Han.
I mean he's a bounty hunter, for crying out loud, and they're sat across a very small table from each other.
How could he fire first and miss?

Cleaner82 - 2009-08-17

Those big googly black eyes ain't good for seein'?

Ashenblade - 2009-10-18

It's made pretty clear in the EU that Greedo is a shitty bounty hunter.
