Sy Hersh's first big break was the My Lai Massacre and all he's been doing since then is breaking military stories, he outed the Bush Administration's push to Iran. Cronkite was a news anchor, so he read what his producers pushed to him, but that was before TV got stupid. Murrow brought down McCarthy.

What I am seeing here is exceptions to the rule.

What your seeing is two broadcast journalists who were in the business before corporations decided to treat their news divisions like any others, squeezing all the profit out of them they could. People like stories on Britney and Brangelina more than depressing stories about Iraq or global warming. And a print journalist who writes for arguably the best magazine on the planet, the New Yorker. Print divides out the stupid, there's People and then there's the Economist.
