Fuckin' Monsanto... at it again.

Well... on the bright side, it's not exactly like India has a dearth of people.

You have to buy new seeds each season because they're patented instead of just taking seeds from a mature plant you grew. Brave New World.

Ryo-Cokey - 2008-02-01 Of course, had you been paying attention, you have noted they've been using hybrid seed since the 1970s... which also cannot be used as seed.

Ugh, choppy.

I agree, choppy. But this kind of shit has to stop - the constant pursuit of profit is endangering the long term viability of humankind.

The evolutionary-ecological nightmare that is genetic homogeneity.

How did Monsanto cause the suicides?

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-02-03 Monsanto comes in, encourages or bribes the local government to take up their cause, their products get distributed, and before you know it, all of these dirt poor farmers can't afford to get seed from anywhere else. And they can't use the seeds they've grown because they are genetically modified not to bloom due to self terminator gene sequences. Monsanto owns patents on its seeds as well as the only sprays/pesticides that can be used in conjunction with those plants when their products develop an "unexpected' turn (see the other documentary I provided on this). The plants are assured to inhibit the use of these sprays and then when it turns out they are desperately needed, it causes interminable harm, as well as a total lack of hope. These poor farmers have no choice left and no self sustenance. Monsanto effectively promises them the world and then forces them into financial hell and often starvation. They are the closest thing to pure evil and if they continue like this, there will be death on a scale so great I don't even want to imagine it.
