Quad9Damage - 2008-03-06
Five stars because I'm picturing the confrontation with Joe Murray the following morning: "What are your crimes, Joe? What are your crimes? What are your crimes? How many crimes have you covered up, Joe? No really, how many crimes? Crimes, Joe? Crimes? What are you hiding, Joe? What are you hiding?"

Sudan no1 - 2008-03-06
this is encouraging, especially after reading Muppet Babies was written by a guy who put scientology 'teachings' into his scripts.

Xenocide - 2008-03-06
This joke is a valuable lesson in the subtle art of slipping controversial jokes past S&P.
Actually, practically every Rocko script is chock-full of such lessons. DVD set now please.

Cinnamon Imperialist - 2008-03-06
If anybody could find a clip of the Scientology dig the Sam and Max Lucasarts game made (with "Dialenics" and "Elrond Hubble") that would be just great.

WHY IS THERE STILL NOT A DVD SET FOR THIS SHOW?
|
benchmark - 2008-03-07
Fourthing the DVD set.
Nickelodeon, you crazy bastard. Don't you realize how much money you could be making right now?

Nickolodeon must have some ridiculous grudge against the show, thats the only explanation for the lack of a dvd set.
|
cognitivedissonance - 2008-03-07 Nickelodeon holds grudges like nobody else. Jhonen Vasquez had to go to a shitty third-party anime dubber to get Invader Zim on DVD, and even then, Nickelodeon censored 75% of the commentary. Adding insult to injury is that Joe Murray now has the successful Camp Lazlo on Cartoon Network, and it'll be a dog's age before it happens.
|
StanleyPain - 2008-03-09 Short story about the DVDs: In the mid 90s, the direction of Nick's animation (and virtually the entire channel) went to the producers of the Rugrats cartoon who thought that only banal, safe, unoriginal kiddy-toons were what Nick should be supporting. A few wayward toons have made it due to their popularity (Spongebob for example), but in general, they basically censor what they do not like, and they would like people to forget toons like Rocko, Angry Beavers, Real Monsters, etc... ever existed because those toons were too subversive. Invader Zim only made it as far as it did because of the popularity and merchandising successes, but even then the show was too much for the Rugrats people.
