POETV has been bloody terrific this week.

Baldr - 2008-03-07
I was hoping to see the mushroom proletariat rejoicing.

IrishWhiskey - 2008-03-07
I'm sorry, but the worker's paradise is in another castle
Dib - 2008-03-07
I always wanted to see a video game made from this. It would be infinitely more exciting than anything Nintendo has done in years.

Cinnamon Imperialist - 2008-03-07
Whoa, edgy, realistic Mario! With blood! and Violence! 5 stars!

zatojones - 2008-03-07
Someone mixed up "social realism" with "anime".
Triggerbaby - 2008-03-07 Actually it's kind of getting crowded up here.
futurebot - 2008-03-07 He's right. Someone explain to me what in god's name this had to do with communism.
Smellvin - 2008-03-07 From each according to his ability, and to each according to his need. Clearly, Mario had the ability to squish goombas, and the goombas needed it. However, like most communist/socialist propaganda, it didn't address the problem of lack of incentive in this new society Mario had created.
futurebot - 2008-03-07 So in other words, nothing
Really, the gag had so much potential, I was profoundly disappointed to see it wasted on SOVIET COMMUNISM IS RED
Xenocide - 2008-03-07 So in other, more accurate words, plenty, but you won't acknowledge it.
dancingshadow - 2008-03-07 Mario's original color was blue.... I'm with zato.. this video was meh... Those five stars above where for nintendo.
futurebot - 2008-03-07 Look, your ideas about the essence of communism having something to do with hammers and the color red aside: the proletarian goombas are just as much a victim of social hierarchy as anyone, Mario should be unionizing them, not murdering them. What business does a revolutionary have bringing down the existing order, only to raise his own imperial flag? Why the fuck does Mario leave coins in their question blocks instead of redistributing them to the masses?
This is petit-bourgeoise communism, faux-revolutionary drivel. Also, Mario throws hammers but where is the Hammer Brothers Suit? Failure, on so many levels.

futurebot - 2008-03-09 I think rainman is the guy in this thread who doesn't get irony

Pangalin - 2008-03-07
OH GOD CARTOONS I MUST REVILE THEM
Billy the Poet - 2008-03-07
Shouldn't the People's Heroic Proletarian Pipefitter be machine-gunning the princess?
Hugo Gorilla - 2008-03-07
I figured Mario for an union man, just not the SOVIET Union! Hey-yo!
coprolalia - 2008-03-07
Imaginative concept, sloppy and dull execution.
Xenocide - 2008-03-07
No fireworks at the end?
Oh, well, five stars anyway.
Herr Matthias - 2008-03-08 Numbers ending in 1, 3, and 6 are tools of the capitalist pigs
oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2008-03-07
man I was all hyped and it turned out to be sorta crappy
baleen - 2008-03-07
I wonder what Lenin would think of Mario's preoccupation with coins and rescuing princesses.
Aubrey McFate - 2008-03-08
I'm giving 5 stars for the comments. A one-off joke where a Serious Mario gets Serious Music to Serious Gore gets an analysis for it's social criticism content.
Can't get more internet than that.
gambol - 2008-03-09
meh
Gwago - 2008-03-09
What's with the hate?! That was the coolest thing I've seen all week.
remag2117 - 2008-03-18
This movie is quite exceptional, particularly because the comments have made it quite easy to discern the old school gamers who get the joke, from the newbie gamers who do not.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-07-18
I know stuff about politics and this cartoon makes me mad!
