for the last frame, and for good music rather than some pop crap

I like how the owners of this parrot just had to be complete dicks and only provide him with rigid sticks, instead of thinner, bendy typical birds' nest material like hay or whatever.
Yitzhak
I'm pretty sure that's straw.

-1 star for not pulling out to show the true magnitude of the nest until the last frame.

petep
what a smart bird, piling his sticks like that
mouser
What a dump.

That's the McMansion of nests. With all that extra floor space, I bet he has no furniture.

When the cocoon is complete, the young Parakeet larvae will sleep for 28 days, before emerging 8 times it's original size, covered in red stripes and baring horrible crushing mandibles. It's first task will be to feed.
Enjoy
My quaker never does anything like this.

I recall that it was your parrot that stole my hay collection!

I liked that they didn't edit out the midpoint preening. He deserved it, after all.

What a cute bird. There are some states where they are considered menaces, I believe it is due to these monstrous nests.
Camonk
Yeah, I was going to put a comment up to that effect. They're banned in some states, cause they'll build those monster nests on and around powerlines.

So we only get to see a tiny part of the whole thing ?

I think it's something of a bird condominium; we've just seen one bird build its nest, but clearly there are other birds in their own nests in the same complex.

Enjoy
My quaker is 13 years old now. They are very interesting birds. Besides being the only parrot that builds nests they have speech abilities close to an African Grey and you can breed some really cool colors like blue and cinnamon.

They were originally banned from a dozen states out of fear they would multiply and eat the crops. They are hardy enough to live in most climates and the fear was they would go eat up the farms. The huge nests were an unforeseen problem.

If you've ever had a conure or cockatiel, the quaker is about the same size but has the personality and smarts of a large bird.

I don't think it matters what size the bird is. I remember hearing that the record for most words spoken was held by a budgie.

What's with the clothespins on every other piece of straw?
Chalkdust
That bird stole my idea!

These birds are illegal to keep as pets in some states... for this very reason. They are gregarious and build huge colony nests, often on telephone poles, which can start fires.

There are several thriving wild flocks around the US.

That's all well and good, but when it comes time to fight a war, this parrot will be nowhere to be found.

The first little parrot built his house of straw!
