And he was a fantastic writer too. I prefer my artists to be broke, obscenely talented, and batshit crazy. Bukowski was the full package. W.B. Yeats was brilliant and profound, but through all of his problems, he actually could have held down a real job, so fuck that guy.

He was the real deal, alright. A mad genius asshole drunkard.

The rest of the interviews in this documentary (The Charles Bukowski Tapes) are worth watching, too.
