This is quite seriously the gayest cartoon intro I've ever seen. Way to dig into the comic strip F-list, guys.

Spit Spingola - 2008-06-27

The 70s were horrific. Watching this would be like trying to read old comics after somebody puked on them. Ew.

KnowFuture - 2008-06-27

...and there's that whirling Certified Grade-A Animated Crap symbol at :50.

I very, very vaguely remember at least the title of this and the little song, but that's about it. It's weird because I would have been interested in a Nancy & Sluggo cartoon.

Blaise - 2008-06-27

Come on guys, a 70/80s update to 40/50s era comics? Pure gold.

I vaguely remember this. I could see myself watching for the Alley Oop segments and being disappointed with the Nancy crap.

Spit Spingola - 2008-06-27

These are mostly from the 30's, actually. I love the part where they say they're going to teach you educational lessons. The 70's were all about castrating everything and covering it with ugly colors.

Xenocide - 2008-06-28

Every one of these comics is still running. They've long since been drained of any charm, wit or value they had back in the old days.

saitcho - 2008-06-27

i feel real sad now. 1 star for crappy animation and 1 star for voice acting horror.

eatenmyeyes - 2008-06-28

Are you simple? I'm counting four instances of June Foray. That said, this does look dreadful.

Testicles of Doom - 2008-06-28

I was going to say, at least it gave June Foray a paycheck, for no matter how little time it might've lasted.

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-06-27

That is such an infuriatingly patronizing opening. I would've been so insulted if I'd seen this as a child.

dubz - 2008-06-28

Yeah, this was as bad as you might imagine.

My childhood was filled with crap cartoons until I was saved by Star Blazers and Robotech.

MrBuddy - 2008-06-28

I have no memory of the introduction but I remember the cartoons. Just like dubz Star Blazers (Macross) made all the difference.

cognitivedissonance - 2008-06-28

Lou Sheimer, you had better be dead.

WIKICHECK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lou_Scheimer HE'S NOT. SOMEBODY HAS A NEW PROJECT.

cognitivedissonance - 2008-06-28

"In the late 1990s, Scheimer returned to the field of animation. A Dutch investment company, Dreamweavers, NV., approached Lou with a concept based on an off-kilter Dutchman's renderings of characters aimed at young adults. Scheimer went into production on an animated feature film entitled Robin and the Dreamweavers. Robin, the first human ever born in cyberspace, battled the evil siren "Triple XXX" who desired an earthly body and gained power through mankind's baser carnal desires. The film, however, was never distributed."

"Shortly thereafter, Scheimer underwent quadruple bypass surgery and was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Erika Scheimer quickly took control of her father's company and shut it down."

dementomstie - 2008-06-28

I remember renting this when I was a kid. This was some point around 1986 or so probably. I remember liking the Broomhilda stuff for some reason.

Yellow Lantern - 2008-06-28

Where the hell are the girls of Apartment 3-G

Stupid Lisa Garbage Face - 2008-06-28

0:48 "oh shit lie back and put on your smiles"

SpookyElectric - 2008-06-28

I admit I also enjoyed Broomhilda as a child. My paper doesn't carry it, but they do have Pluggers, a strange comic entirely in spanish, Mallard "Oops-Forget-The-Joke" Fillmore, Baldo, and Deep Blue Water (which cannot even be found on the internet).

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-07-04

I don't think so, Austrilopithicus cartoon man with Popeye arms.

"Ve are Hans and Fritz".

I...did the guys from SNL see this?

RandomFerret - 2008-09-14

I refuse to believe that, even in the seventies, you could get away with a title like 'Fabulous Funnies."
