Hey, here's a question. Why would God create something knowing it would betray Him? And here's a followup question. If God created man, knowing man would betray Him, how is man's eventual betrayal their fault?
And a final point. A bible doesn't know things. It is a book.

Which is close, but is easier to just say "its a misrepresentation of an opponent's position."
But then he goes on to say:
"A strawman argument would be like this: Do you have a mom or a dad? Well you probably do. Well I'm going to say that you don't have a mom or you don't have a dad if I can grab a cracker box."
I don't think he understands the words coming out of his mouth.

Hooker - 2008-08-08 Probably the most important overlooked quality of straw man argument is that it is an _intentional_ misrepresentation. An honest misrepresetation is just a mistake. It's comparable to lying; you can say something that isn't true and not be lying if you believe it is true. You can misrepresent someone's argument, attempt to refute that argument, and still not be engaging in a straw man fallacy if you didn't intentionally misrepresent it, which is the case the vast majority of the time.

Firstly, you should never, never, never, NEVER store bows braced (with the string on). It hurts the bow and makes it weaker. Either this guy is an idiot or is putting weapons in the background to "scare" people.

As annoying as this guy is, the 10 questions video is an amazing exercise in douchebaggery. Intelligent modern believers cannot take the bible literally. Rather, they understand it was written in a certain historical context. They also have to understand that the bible, in a sense, is poetic work, in which much of the imagery is symbolic, getting to a deeper spiritual meaning. The guy is operating at 5-year-old level when he asks why god wont heal the injured. Any serious believer has transcended the base hope that god is supposed to provide some *material* relief in one's life.

You just basically summed up the idea behind the 10 questions thing which is that for Christians to get on with their daily lives, they have adopted a "well, it's symbolic" approach to the bible, which is completely illogical. The bible and the roots of Christianity lie in believing in God and believing that God has omnipotent powers over the world and the universe and everything in it. This is enforced by the Gospels, which many Christians DO take literally for the most part. But you can't have it both ways. You cannot believe in the power of God and Jesus, and the supernatural miracles they are advertised to be capable of, and then simply say "Oh, well we all know those things are physically impossible and don't stand up to logical scrutiny, but I'm a Christian anyway and that stuff was just metaphor to make you believe." It's a self-rationalization that's completely ridiculous. Whether you think that point was made in a douchey manner, it still stands.

Cleaner82 - 2008-08-08 Anyone has to take certain things on faith. Prove to me, for example, that anything exists outside your own mind. If you can, you get a cookie. But you can't. And from that standpoint, to flagrantly believe in a world outside your brain in spite of an utter lack of evidence is 'rediculous'.
