If this isn't how Atari games originated, I will be very disappointed.
Also cheers for reminding me about Star Raiders, I completely forgot owning that game. I'll add it to my DS emulator tonight.
"we are atari we HAD the vision..."
photons, xylons, Star Raiders had everything! and it sounds like it was all taken from other stuff.
Yar's Revenge never made any sense and was the hardest game I had when I was a kid.
i never could figure out what to do in yar's revenge. i just shot and shot and never accomplished anything. reminds me of my life.
I like how they had to enhance the game graphics with painstaking animation which looks worse than what you can do on a pocket calculator today.
Also I can't tell the difference between the Star Raiders ship and Pac-Man.
The big selling point with Star Rangers was that it came with its own controller: a keypad that you used to navigate from one screen with little blips that you shoot at and get shot at by to another screen with other little blips that you shoot at and get shot at by. Pretty progressive for its time I guess. Star Rangers was the only game the keypad worked with.
