Oh god the flashbacks. Looks like Disney gave the Fleichers a run for their money in the early days.. competition kept him sharp.

I once did a study of Disney's obsession with the macabre. I discovered a dumbfounding number of death obsessed projects, from the Skeleton Dance all the way up to the Haunted Mansion.

I wish I had been around for the days when childrens' cartoons could consist of literally nothing but the adorable, innocent protagonists being menaced and tormented by a succession of sadists and hellish abominations.
