how exactly does a skeleton with no internal organs blow out a candle?
Also, one of my favorite cartoons as a kid.

Thank GOD for anime, even the most fanservice-filled...

Ha ha I'm just kidding. True story: this 7 minute cartoon has twice the frames of animation as in all of Dragonballz.

Bloo blah bloo.

Oh god the flashbacks. Looks like Disney gave the Fleichers a run for their money in the early days.. competition kept him sharp.

Beautiful lighting.

Cute cartoon and definitely beautiful lighting, a little scary for Disney though. Maybe skeletons with no internal organs blow out candles the same way they stand up and walk around without muscles?

I'm surprised this hasn't been pulled from YouTube yet. Don't forget kids, the US constitution says copyright is for a limited time so always ask a Disney employee when Disney cartoons will be released into the public domain.

A little scary for post-Snow White Disney, perhaps. But these were the early years, when the mouse house put out some surprisingly dark product. See also: The Skeleton Dance, The Old Mill, and Walt's return to spookiness in Night on Bald Mountain.

Mickey Mouse dreams about a mad Dr.XXX dragging a dog off to his lab to make dog-headed chicken hybrids. And you guys are going on about skeletons and candles?

Xenocide - 2008-09-05

Check out Mickey's hand during the title card. I told you guys he was metal.

"Dr. XXX" :D

I once did a study of Disney's obsession with the macabre. I discovered a dumbfounding number of death obsessed projects, from the Skeleton Dance all the way up to the Haunted Mansion.

I wish I had been around for the days when childrens' cartoons could consist of literally nothing but the adorable, innocent protagonists being menaced and tormented by a succession of sadists and hellish abominations.

I'm sure the scary cartoons (and sexy Betty Boop cartoons) were aimed at adults.

It's all the Hayes Code's fault cartoons were pussified. :(

Hodge - 2010-03-04

It was actually Hays, not Hayes.
