I can relive classic Star Trek moments, evaluate inconsistencies and rate the production qualities of the video. What else do I need, it's a full nerd-entertainment package!

Bort - 2008-11-12

I can easily explain away the DS9 cloaking thing. That should not surprise anyone.

kingofthenothing - 2009-07-18

Most of these kinds of inconsistencies can be found in any sci-fi, especially the "sound not traveling" part. Star Wars is just as guilty.

Bort - 2009-07-29

The super-beardy explanation of sound traveling in space is, it's really your ship's viewscreen adding stock explosion noises as an aid in communicating what is happening.

As for the cloaking thing ... as the seasons went on, the humans' technology in the beardiverse had improved by leaps and bounds, which meant that they could see through cloaking devices that once they could not. A cloaking device that the other guys can see through is not, in any meaningful sense, a cloaking device.

zatojones - 2008-11-12

BUT PICARD SAID HE DOESN'T DANCE

fermun - 2008-11-12

He can dance if he wants to. He can leave his friends behind.

Cube - 2008-11-12

That's because his friends don't dance -- and if they don't dance... Well, they're no friends of mine.

takewithfood - 2008-11-12

The computer requires the voice authorization of two senior officers in order to disable the safety dance.

fluffy - 2008-11-12

poetv needs bulbs

kiint - 2008-11-12

all we have are sad, inadequate stars

yoyo1 - 2008-11-12

That's because Picard is a fucker

NoCode - 2008-11-12

Thank you, autistic person, for making me laugh.

Crapenstein - 2008-11-12

These stars are for Data dodging lasers then getting hit by an arrow.

Camonk - 2008-11-12

The glaring character inconsistencies were my favorites. Though the whole thing about a planet that's colder than absolute zero was cool, too. Why do nerds like this show again?

Wait. Why does anybody like this show?

Hooper_X - 2008-11-12

I could almost see them handwaving that away, really. His sensors or whatever are designed to track lasers and other really really fast shit, but something like an arrow or a rock or whatever, well, who the fuck uses those as weapons anymore? Why bother to design a system to counteract them? It's like asking a cop to wear plate mail.

Hooper_X - 2008-11-12

p.s. my beard just grew a quarter-inch posting that reply.

IrishWhiskey - 2008-11-12

Also credits and latinum are used by other cultures that the Federation trades with, even though Earth and Starfleet are radical commies.
And Picard didn't finish his statement it was "I don't dance... with fugly old trolls. It makes for embarrassing YouTube videos".
And Chakotay went vegetarian for a little while because he found he couldn't fit into his girdle anymore.
And Data couldn't predict Troi's move because he calculated every possible move that would work to his opponent's advantages, but not the moves which were random boneheaded blunders.
Worf was raised as a human on Earth, so its not unusual that he sleeps like them.
And the difference in Klingons is explained by a genetic disease that spread in that era and was...

Okay you know what? The only thing more obsessive that pointing out the mistakes, is finding explanations for them.

thebaronsdoctor - 2009-09-26

But hy does Data have to dodge the lasers anyway? Half the time they don't even work on him

Camonk - 2010-04-30

And everybody misses my "colder than absolute zero is cool" joke

Worthless

fluffy - 2008-11-12

Oh and check out the other parts too. Highlights from part 4: Data's internal circuitry changed subtly between the TV series and the movies, Spot was clearly different cats with different genders and behaviors over the course of TNG, the TOS crew kept on finding newer and harder materials, and Kirk misunderstands orders of magnitude.

yoyo1 - 2008-11-12

The guy who made this has some awesome videos.

Hooper_X - 2008-11-12

I like how they're at all surprised that Kirk doesn't remember shit from history class. He's fucking KIRK. You know he only passed World History because he was fucking his professor.

Also: THE POEBOT 5000 HAS ANALYZED THIS VIDEO AND SUGGESTS THE FOLLOWING NOVELTY TAGS: "Fandom studies," "jesus christ i can feel my beard grow posting this," "autism spectrum disorders."

Hooper_X - 2008-11-12

Also, they have a "hard time" finding Data because they secretly don't want to. Every time they're all "WELL FUCK IT I GUESS WE LOST THE ROBOT LET'S GO HOME" and then he pops up and everyone is all "GODDAMNIT"

fluffy - 2008-11-12

I have integrated your tag suggestions in.

Camonk - 2010-04-30

That guy must have been so fucking annoying to have around. It's like, goddammit, Data, yes you're struggling with what it means to be human well the rest of us are, even the bumpy-headed space negro so shut up just shut up

Timothy A. Bear - 2008-11-12

LOL for McCoy's knife collection.

chumbucket - 2008-11-12

star trek television and films don't need to spend a dime on a continuity checker since they have the entire population of star trek fanboy nerds to do it for them

Hugo Gorilla - 2008-11-12

Another inconsistency is that Ricardo Montalban never rose to power in the early nineties.

The McK - 2008-11-12

More's the pity.

boner - 2008-11-12

Also: nobody ever goes to the bathroom.

chumbucket - 2008-11-12

unfortunately that doesn't count as an inconsistency as it is a very consistent behavior of the series

ProfessorChaos - 2008-11-13

Ahem: Not exactly true. Zephram Cochran takes a leak in First Contact. And Geordi Doesn't understand what that means.

Dinkin Flicka - 2008-11-13

Aha! Geordi understands what he means after he clarifies with the word "pee," AND Zephram doesn't actually wee, he runs away like a coward and gets shot in the back by Riker. Check and Mate

Bort - 2011-02-07

So now you know why nobody ever goes to the bathroom.

baleen - 2008-11-12

All of these problems could have been avoided by writing things down.

Xiphias - 2008-11-12

the writers for the star trek shows should have checked the fan wiki

Hooper_X - 2008-12-19

You laugh, but apparently the writers of the current Transformer show DO JUST THAT.

yoyo1 - 2008-11-12

I always dream I will make a video like these everytime I watch star trek (which is 100% inconsistencies).
The difference is that I never made it.
but this is awesome.

ProfessorChaos - 2008-11-13

I'm saving my last star for the person who attempts to do the same thing for Doctor Who - the Mount Everest of Inconsistency.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2008-11-13

I thought that I had thought about Star Trek a lot.

I was wrong.

bopeton - 2008-12-07

Well, I watched all 10 minutes of it and didn't get bored.

Nikon - 2009-01-03

That was some AAA rank autism right there.

Wonko the Sane - 2009-02-09

holy beard

FABIO - 2009-05-01

Eh, autism would be listing every single technobabble inconsistency. The thing with Data's dodging was just funny.

Honestly the comments here are 1000% more autistic than anything in the video.

dododge - 2009-07-01

Hooray for including the center-of-the-galaxy nonsense.

Spastic Avenger - 2009-12-14

This video just proves my point that the original series klingons are far more entertaining and oddly more naturalistic
