I can understand the cost-cutting brutality, but they should fire all the psychopaths who get off on sodomizing pigs, there's juust no need for that shit.

Most of the idealistic vegetarians and their grass-munching ilk that I've met are idiots who 'cry for the trees'. For one form of life to maintain a position of comfort (see: not starving), other forms must suffer. The only alternative is to suffer ourselves.
That being said, fuck these guys and fuck their gleeful sadism. I can only imagine it's a small step for these fine upstanding citizens from sodomizing a squealing pig to sodomizing their squealing daughter.

simon666 - 2008-11-17 The vegetarian argument, which you've touched on, is this: Because these ARE the conditions at meat processing/factory farms, then do not eat meat because of it.
Granted, not all vegetarians hold this view and some are nutty as you have described, but if the animals were treated "better" than this, I think you'd see less vegetarians.
However, as long as one's motives in business are to make money, all else goes to the way-side to achieve that goal, "unnecessary" care for the animals included.
|
The Great Hippo - 2008-11-17 I'd certainly love to see steps taken to mitigate the suffering we have to inflict to maintain our comfort levels. I just get a lot of flak for taking a position that no matter *what* we do, something must suffer for us to live; it's unreasonable for us to take every precaution feasible to minimize that suffering.
But yeah, this is the extreme end of the spectrum. Fuck the factory, fuck the business practices, and fuck the people who work there. We don't have to make it piglet daycare, but we can do a whole fucking lot better than this bull shit.

TeenerTot - 2008-11-17 I once tried to tell my brother how awful some of these plants are. (I don't know how the conversation came up). His whole end of the conversation consisted of paraphrases of "Hey, we gotta eat." He actually could not see the distinction between eating the meat and torturing the meat before you eat it.
I try not to talk to him too much.

If PETA put more focus on legitimate cruelty like this and less focus on their crazy headline-grabbing bullshit, they might just become a respectable organization.
Also, it seems odd to me that slaughterhouses use such primitive methods of killing animals, considering that humanity's greatest achievements usually involve clever ways of killing large numbers of things as quickly as possible,

This sort of thing is just the beginning.
Meat eaters, seek out more factory farm videos. If you eat their products, you ought to know how they are made.

I've been a vegetarian for eight years now, but I don't preach. It's a personal choice and I don't have anything against meat eaters.
That said, fuck these guys. And fuck the industry for institutionalizing this sadism.

Corman's Inferno - 2008-11-17
I'm not a vegetarian, but I seek out non-factory farmed meat exactly for this reason. That thing with the piglets almost made me cry.

You know puppies have their tails cut off without any anesthetic too, right? You like Dobermans, Rotties, Cockers, Boxers, Poodles? You're supporting the exact same thing.
|
Cleaner82 - 2008-11-17 Oh, was that the part you caught?
|
Hay Belly - 2008-11-17 What? Want me to smuggle in a camera next time we do puppies' tails and dew claws? They scream and cry and whimper for a long time afterward. Lend me a camera.
|
Cleaner82 - 2008-11-18 I'm struggling here but your point is kind of floating around and I can't quite seem to catch it. Are you saying cutting off tails is bad? Okay! Well observed!

I do not buy from Hormel, and now I never will.

Ghoul - 2008-11-17
I've been a vegetarian for 6 years now. I refuse to watch this video because It will just make me angry at things I know I have no power to change.
That said, I do want to kill and eat the staff at the Hormel supplier.

That last bit of text just made me want to eat more Hormel chili asap.
Fuck you PETA and your shitty illogical views.

Growing up on a farm where we raised beef cattle, I'm all too familiar with the nasty rectal prolapse (3:40, don't be eating ANYTHING!). Basically, something goes wrong with their lower intestinal tract, which causes swelling. Only way to treat it is to puncture the inflamed tissue, scope out the pus, fecal matter, and excess tissue, push it back in, then literally sew the asshole shut for up to a week. You don't want to be around when the stitches come off!
...Pass the hot dogs, please!
