I don't care what people say; I love you Keith! It's okay to be biased if you agree with me... and my heart!

As worthless an opinion as it is at this moment, Blackwell is completely right. Increased Federal spending inevitably means increased power for Federal unions (who are almost entirely Democrat). Likewise, increased spending in education invariably means more SIG power for teacher's unions, which is really the backbone of the GOP's drive to privatize schools. It has nothing to do with job creation and everything to do with getting re-elected.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-02-02 There used to be a connection between productivity and salary, overall, but that's been disconnected. Republicans continue to cut capital gains taxes, ensuring that those who pay payroll taxes see a larger percentage of their pay go to tax, all the while making some very rich people pay very little, comparably, in taxes.
If the GOP would quit sucking the dicks of the rich and screwing the middle and lower classes, then maybe more working-class people, even union members, would vote for them without the Republicans having to resort to using Jesus and bombs as reasons to elect their party members.

Camonk - 2009-02-02 It wouldn't be true if Republicans would stop being heartless fucks and just support labor the way human beings with feelings instead of sacks of notecards with emotions and suggestions for imitating them do.
