So say, you make a shitload of that 'super coating'. More than we're currently capable of producing. Then suppose you decided to treat some historical structures with it. Structures in their current state require lots and lots of human care.

No, the paint is created in the same manner they demonstrate in the video where the liquid applied to the material leaves a criss cross network of ceramic particles. This produces something that is _resistant_ but still ultimately prone to the same erosion by other surfaces or the elements as any ordinary coat. However, it would undoubtedly prolong their lifespans by order of magnitude.
