The tax cuts worked and held off the Clinton recession and the 911 recession. Liberals just hated the tax cuts cause they are jealous of the rich. Bush kept America secure. Radical Islam did wage war on the U.S. and Bush kept us safe. Whether or not you like the war in Iraq it did distract the terrorists, and kept them busy there so they weren't blowing up Americans here.

Three things I distinctly remember are

1. Republicans voting a tax cut to "stimulate the economy."

2. The Fed raising interest rates at about the same time, which is traditionally done to slow the economy.

3. The rise in interest rates leading to a bump in foreclosures.

All at about the same time.

Now, the traditional argument is that tax cuts lead to investment, and that's supposed to be good for the economy, but one of the things that caused the credit crisis is lots and lots of money looking for a place to invest. That's why the standards got lower and lower. There was more money out there than investments.
