Full episode across three parts.

I don't know what the writers for GI Joe were up to back in the 80s, but it's obvious they were having an awesome fucking time and pretty much making fun of everything around them. This one's about the subliminal message scare, there's two that are pretty much directly mocking tabloid news in general and Geraldo Rivera in particular, a couple with snide passes at Star Wars and other Cold War military spending, and one where it turns out Destro is actually the last in a line of servitors to a Lovecraftian nightmare being.

They must have just kept a giant bowl of blow in the writers' office at Sunbow.

Scarlet looks alot like Ann Coulter to me. Actually, that makes alot of sense.

I know it's been said a billion times on the Internet by now (and a hundred million times on Poe-News alone), but the G.I.Joe movie is worthless if it doesn't capture the bizarre self-parodic tone of the 80s cartoon.

One of the bands I was in in high school had this song in our repertoire, though I mistranscribed the band's name as "Code: Slither."

One star for each:

Far out!
Cosmic Vibes!
5 WHOLE DOLLARS?
The guy going "let's get mellow" looking and SOUNDING like Steve-O
The Baroness making a whole audience her slaves.

Everything else is a bonus.

it's a tragedy how much of this went way over my head as a kid watching this daily. Is the entire series out in DVD now?

'Terrorist hair band' needs to be a link-enabled tag.

Hooper_X - 2009-03-24

That's why I put it there, sir.

Midget must have inspired the Rickyisms from Trailer Park Boys.

Testicles of Doom - 2009-03-25

I certainly don't remember Shipwreck doing a bad Jack Nicholson impression at all, let alone all the time.

Auto 5 for Cobra Commander wearing sunglasses over his mask.

Hooper_X - 2009-03-26

Would you believe that's actually in the series bible? The character description given to writers was "Popeye as played by Jack Nicholson."

Camonk - 2010-07-12

Is this true? Can you find this online? TO GOOGLE!

dead_cat - 2009-03-27

I feel cheated that the scene cuts out right before GI Joe gets booed off the stage.

"This gold's got to finance us for the next fiscal year!"

COBRA is worried about budgets. COBRA has a fiscal year.
