Ahh, nostalgia.

Too bad I have a mac now and I'm deprived not only of these soothing sounds but also a talking paperclip telling me what to do.

glasseye - 2009-03-26

Hey now, it's not clippy's fault that you don't want to use a computer.

Randroid - 2009-03-26

You seem to be at the teat of the mega-corporation Apple.

Would you like help?

Nikon - 2009-03-26

This takes me back (to win98 and nearly putting my fist through the screen).

Chizmurder - 2009-03-26

Coming soon?... WINDOWS SHUTDOWN SOUNDS?! My prayers have been answered! Thankie Jebus!

sosage - 2009-03-26

The NT ones sound kind of creepy. Time to change my start up sound in XP...

Ialdabaoth - 2009-03-26

Tinka-tinka-tinka-tink VIACOM!

fluffy - 2009-03-26

Was repeating every instance of the horrible WinXP sound really necessary? Was the person who assembled this intent on making office workers cringe?

The startup sound was the only good thing about Windows Me.

Desidiosus - 2009-03-26

That startup sound was usually quickly followed by "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS THING"

DrVital - 2009-03-27

Windows ME startup sound was a lot like NBC's "The More You Know" sound.

Also ME was TERRIBLE.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-03-26

The Windows 2000 startup sound reminds me of a commercial bumper for a Hallmark movie.

benchmark - 2009-03-26

Nah. Sounds more like something from the Lifetime network to me.

Old_Zircon - 2009-03-26

The NT 4.0 beta splash screen is way better than the one I ended up with.

So are these still Eno, or did he just do the one?

The Vista one sounds like something from a Sierra adventure game.

StanleyPain - 2009-03-26

The Windows 95 one is the only one by Eno.

poopskin - 2009-03-26

can't wait for the sequel

mouser - 2009-03-26

I never liked any of them. They're too long and become anoying quite rapidly.

Disclaimer: Been a Mac user for 20 years. But that doesn't keep windows boxes at the office annoying 4 times a day.

Menudo con queso - 2009-03-26

The sound of the beginning of yet another day in a ceaseless chain of days in office slavery.

chumbucket - 2009-03-26

of course this is editing out the 3 minutes of silence while booting up to this point

benchmark - 2009-03-26

My family's first computer had Windows 3.1 on it. Except for Paintbrush, it was pretty useless for the most part, but all the cool shit at the time was on DOS anyway, so it didn't matter.

But yeah, that "Ta da!" sound really brings me back.

Spastic Avenger - 2009-03-26

My 25 mhz Olivetti PCS 33 would often hand doing the 3.1 startup noise, leaving the computer going DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUNDUNDUNDUDUDUDUDUDUDUDDDDDDDDDDDUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU until I turned it off.
