splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

Fake, overdub.

Run it through an audio spectrum beside the original and you'll know what I'm talking about.

AgentOrange - 2009-04-30

I'll take your word for it.

Cleaner82 - 2009-04-30

Damn, and here I was all impressed and stuff. Oh well. I shall await more concrete evidence before I rate!

Hugo Gorilla - 2009-04-30

I still think it's cool. Plus her face contorts like she's going to sneeze.

dancingshadow - 2009-04-30

I don't think so. The fast part at 1:38 is slurred, in the original it's almost sticatto.

splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

Plus, if you study professional singers (ie:opera, choir, etc.) you'll notice a lot of tell-tale signs of fakery, like the lack of tongue and throat ululation, nostril flaring, and neck (Sternocleidomastoid) flexing.

dancingshadow - 2009-04-30

Also pitch is off slightly all over the place... what are you talking about.

Comeuppance - 2009-04-30

This sounds faked

I can tell because of the nostrils and from hearing quite a few fakes in my time

splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

If you don't believe it's a FAKE, sync this video up to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJB5Rqc1m0Y and they are EXACT. Fakes are exact, covers are not.

dancingshadow - 2009-04-30

Compare 1:38 in this vid to 4:22 in the original. That's the hard bit Disneydiva can't quite do.

oogaBooga - 2009-04-30

1:38 side by side is NOT the same as in the 5th element.

Sorry. Clean out your ears.

Bored - 2009-04-30

Music beards make me feel uncomfortable.

Camonk - 2009-04-30

The REAL reason this video is FAKE as HELL is that GIRLS don't have any TALENTS! The original was sung by a CASTRATI because only MEN can DO THINGS!

fatatty - 2009-04-30

If it was fake wouldn't it sound as good as the original? She is clearly off note throughout almost this whole thing.

Fuck you fake police. IS NOTHING REAL?

fluffy - 2009-04-30

She's clearly singing along with the original. This makes it hard to tell how good she would be on her own.

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2009-04-30

So am I the only singer here who can say splatterbabble is fucking wrong?

There was nothing wrong with her facial movement, she inflected properly, he breathing was correct. His faggotry about tongue/nose is crap.

splatterbabble is a dumb faggot who failed as a singer.

he/she is also wrong

splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

By the way, 1:38 is STILL EXACT!

I'm gonna take my toys and go home if I don't keep getting butthurt over the ignorance of people I don't know.

DAMN YOU INTERNETS! WHY MUST YOU MAKE ME WHAT I AM!?!?

Seriously, the piece is autotuned and modulated and overproduced. It's too easy to tell it's an overdub. I think people are only rating it up to be contrary or because the WANT it to be real. It really just shows gullibility and herd mentality.

Anyhow, this was the worst part of the Fifth Element because of how crappy it sounded after the aria.

IrishWhiskey - 2009-04-30

Five for the idiots who don't realize that this isn't an overdub. This is the original, and the Fifth Element used this audio sample in their movie. Just check 0:29 for proof.

simon666 - 2009-04-30

I think splatterbabble is baleen's newest troll incarnation. YAY!

AgentOrange - 2009-04-30

Wow, you must've registered this week and already you've had a histrionic break down about sci-fi opera. SCI-FI OPERA, you unbelievable rube.

Aelric - 2009-04-30

This is News on Parade with "THE MARCH OF WAR!"

Dateline: 2009

Controversy hits POETV!

The newly vilified Splatterbabble makes casual comment or shows his true colors? RED!

Community mobilizes to silence the faker claimer or uproar mere entertainment for the emotionally stable?

The shelled otter: is it actually a turtle?

Yes, It seems everybody is talking about whether the fine young lass with the big big voice is really a pinko commie faker! "Zounds, indeed she is!" claims the poorly named splatterbabble. "Nay, silence the disbeliever in insignifica!" says the older, established, elitist community of which this humble reporter is a member (owl burning later, boys?), some even claiming that the faker claimer is really faker maker Baleen giving his newest high concept comedy shenanigans out for a spin.

What will happen in this explosive front? When will hostilities end? Will anyone remember any of this tomorrow? If they do, what social problems do they have?

Stay glued to your seats and await the next reel of:
Parade of News presents "THE MARCH OF WAR!"
presented with the second feature in your local theater.

Goodnight and God bless POE!

fluffy - 2009-04-30

aelric i want to give you 5* but it is too late

i am sorry

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2009-05-03

I want roast owl.

SolRo - 2013-04-30

i'll add my 2 cents 4 years later.

it's real, the original has one or two small instances of pitch shifting beyond human ability, and this woman didn't recreate it.

oddeye - 2014-04-30

Dude I analyzed her tongue movements and shit, this is FAKE.

AgentOrange - 2009-04-30

That is some serious brow furrowing, she is approaching john c riley levels of brow there.

Dharma - 2009-04-30

Go to her youtube site, if it's fake she's been faking dozens of different songs.

splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

It's not hard to believe that people get popular on YouTube for faking things.

Cleaner82 - 2009-04-30

Well in that case, at the very least A for effort.

glasseye - 2009-04-30

Nifty. Doesn't look (sound) like a fake to me.

chairsforcheap - 2009-04-30

it's 100% not fake just by listening to it.
splatterbabble is hilaaaaaaarious

splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

If you don't believe it's a FAKE, sync this video up to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJB5Rqc1m0Y and they are EXACT. Fakes are exact, covers are not.

Camonk - 2009-04-30

Hey dude post that exact comment one more time. I think it'll stick, if you do that.

splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

Shit. I better try harder. I didn't think people were actually reading.

kennydra - 2009-04-30

That comment is fake. Don't believe me? synch it up to the one above. Fakes are EXACT.

splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

You got me! Ha!

Charles - 2009-09-08

Pretty good, but not good enough to convince me that that part is truly singable.

Splatter is most likely retarded because I haven't even seen this movie or heard this song in like, 6 months at least, and I can still tell that it's not exact.

AgentOrange - 2009-04-30

Yeah splatterbabble, you suck.

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2009-04-30

Five because splatterbabble is a fucking retard.

Five because of splatterbabble

dementomstie - 2009-04-30

I think it's not fake because you can hear part of the original underneath her performance. It seems like she might have had to use the soundtrack to get the non-vocal part and maybe turned the vocal track way down(I have no idea if that's possible, I'm crap around anything musical) but near the end 1:50 or so, it sounds like there's a bit of a leak through where you hear both her and the original track. Maybe I'm imagining it, but it seems like it's there.
Also, damn this took an interesting turn for the comments.

chairsforcheap - 2009-04-30

exactly. you can hear with your own ears the original is only partially dubbed out. the fact that the girl isn't even that good makes it obvious that she's not singing the synthesized version.

splatterbabble - 2009-04-30

She's mouthing all of it.

AgentOrange - 2009-04-30

Please keep responding to everyone in the comments section, you are totally changing hearts and minds.

Anti-Pope - 2009-04-30

Yeah you can easily hear the original version underneath her singing. Some people are just born deaf and dumb.

StanleyPain - 2009-04-30

OK, I want this shit settled once and for all. When I heard this in the theater I was like "Oh, it's just a sampled vocal cuz they want to make her sound alien or whatever, that's cool." Then I read some article claiming the singer ACTUALLY sang the last part without technical aid and I could NOT fucking believe it and I have yet to see proof. So, putting this chick's video aside, has there ever been an absolute 100% proof of it either way?

fluffy - 2009-04-30

It sounds very sampled to me. In particular, the glissando parts, and the fact her timbre doesn't match her pitch at the extreme ends of the pitch range. I can believe that most of it was performed vocally but those parts sound excruciatingly uncanny. If that was a natural performance that she purposefully made to sound that way, then I am extremely impressed with the singer's vocal talents.

Wikipedia doesn't mention anything about the production of the song, but does go to great pains to point out that the two sections were produced as separate songs, so it's possible that they were only talking about the aria and then "deceiving through omission" or whatever.

ABoyNamedCheese - 2009-05-01

According to wikipedia, which cites the notes in the special edition, the original was sung, as-heard and digitally unaltered, by an Albanian Opera singer.

TeenerTot - 2009-05-01

I thought it was sung by Renee Fleming, with digital alteration for the second part.

Architeuthis Tux - 2009-04-30

I'm five starring this because splatterbabble's seething nerd rage is hilarious, cute, impotent and most importantly -- likely to be quite sincere in its spurned audio-engineer-in-the-porn-industry turned down by someone with youtube videos kind of way.

seriouslyuguys - 2009-04-30

This.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-05-01

I'm not much of a music guy, but I'll five star nerd rage any ol day.

mcsancherson - 2009-04-30

5 stars for her mustache

mcsancherson - 2009-04-30

didnt watch more than 20 seconds of the video

themilkshark - 2009-04-30

For all the shit I take for being a wrestling fan, it has taught me well to tell the difference between a "shoot" and a "work." I call this a shoot.

Samisyosam - 2009-04-30

It's customary for most recordings of classical pieces to be recorded note by note. That's pretty much what they did for this piece, to a level that sounds like synth. But hey, they did it to make it sound futuristic.

However, this ridiculous person is trying to recreate it in one take. A for effort, but argh... my ears...

Robin Kestrel - 2009-04-30

Has anybody mentioned yet if they thought this was a fake or not?

love - 2009-04-30

this is totally real. I made a graph.

halon - 2009-04-30

5 stars because I think it's real and I think splatterbabble is a dipshit

La Loco - 2009-05-01

If you don't believe it's a FAKE, sync this video up to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJB5Rqc1m0Y and they are EXACT. Fakes are exact, covers are not.

Who cares? This movie sucked anyway. And this song sucks. Seriously, I know its like a tribute to french scifi comics but it still sucks. Chris Tucker sucks in everything except Friday and Bruce Willis sucks in everything except Pulp Fiction.

La Loco - 2009-05-01

Oh, and this square woman sucks too.

AgentOrange - 2009-05-01

Die Hard you tasteless moron.

Camonk - 2009-11-15

Last Boyscout, you dribbling FAGGOT

Nominal - 2019-12-08

Here we had the one and only instance of La Loco breaking his routine, and it was to say that Die Hard sucks.
