I'd spend way too much time trying to make a specific image appear, and then I'd probably make the pump go through a closed loop so that the sequence repeats until it gets too smeared through effusion.

The thing this is built with and on is called a Knifty Knitter. It's a hobbyist tool for people that are unable to knit with needles. Great idea!
