It's easy to forget that we're all traveling in space.

DrPhwoar - 2010-06-08 Some might say we're sailing 'pon milky seas, sails to the solar winds.

Mad Struggle - 2009-05-19
It's strange how something like this can make you feel so small and yet, happy.

Chalkdust - 2009-05-19
Holy shit, this is the first time I've had a sense of just where exactly we are in the galaxy.
Also, FUCKIN' APOLLO.

The center of the galaxy is my favorite object in space. There's supposed to be a super massive black hole there. How much do you want to bet very different rules of physics apply in a place like that?
|
SolRo - 2009-05-19 i still think black holes are some unknown superdense form of matter we haven't discovered, as I have no idea how 'holes in the fabric of space' are supposed to grow from absorbing matter and combine into larger ones when two colide and somehow evaporate over time.
also, i'm talking out my ass, but...meh.

The part at the end where the universe explodes is my favorite.

Magical Man from Happy-Land - 2009-05-19
That cloud of stars is our galaxy, the Milky Way. Our solar system is on the edge of it. We hurl through an incomprehensible darkness. In cosmic terms, we are subatomic particles in a grain of sand on an infinite beach
I wonder what's on TV now.

Xiphias - 2009-05-21
I love that shit.

Spinning complacently in the darkness, covered and blinded by a blanket of little lives.
Awesome.

Lies, lies, LIES! - 2009-05-24
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2009-10-13 Only when we all agree to go, can we all go. So said an acid trip one time when thinking about how we could harness Man. Most of the guys agreed. We ain't gettin' anywhere till y'all say it's time to throw money at getting off this mudball.
