Looks like creationist museums are just larger and better funded Halloween Hell houses.

Yeah, like the animatronic and video technology didn't evolve. Of course, we have always had HD.

We come to different conclusions because we come from different starting points. Ken is a real scientist, I just interpret scientific evidence so that it fits the Bible.

|
Cena_mark - 2009-06-16 Now don't try to compare me to a creationist. Scientific evidence rules in favor of evolution, but the jury is still out in the case of global warming. More and more climate scientists are coming to my side.
|
Toenails - 2009-06-17 "...the jury is still out..."
Who exactly is this jury? I keep hearing that in global warming debates and I still have no fucking clue who these 12 angry men are.
The scientific community have found evidence that global warming is real. Whether or not it is caused by us, that is still being debated. But don't act like all those centuries of pollution haven't done irreversible harm to the environment.
Keep in mind that I don't actually give a fuck about the environment and whether or not we are causing problems in it, I just don't like folks playing stupid when it comes to owning up to the damage we cause it.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2009-06-17 "More and more climate scientists are coming to my side."
You really don't know what the actual consensus is, do you? More and more people are hopping over towards Creationism too, but a change of half a percent to 3/4 a percent doesn't mean the consensus is changing, either.
Also, the people you are mentioning have been thoroughly refuted and less than 1% of climate scientists are actually agreeing with any of them.
But don't let facts get in your way, now.

Kansas.
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Rovin - 2009-06-17 Kansas won't be able to maintain it's peculiar mix of rural Jesusness and urban/suburban spread. Scattered throughout the state are seemingly a billion of these really tiny towns with increasingly aged populations - essentially, loyalists who won't leave the area because they've done whatever they've done there since they were tots.
But the kids - the kids are, to a great degree, getting out of there while the getting's good, and they're not going back. they're going to college or the cities and few, if any, are saying, "Hey, wouldn't it be neat if I went back to my hometown and took over the farm/worked at the co-op/bought the grocery store/so on so forth. The kids are, largely unlike their grandparents or parents before them, ending up in places where they have to be tolerant of different, diverse belief systems and viewpoints.
Sure, a place like this might exist in Wichita, but it might exist in a lot of places. Twice in the last decade the state school board has tried to shoehorn in anti-evolution education rules for state curriculum, and if memory serves me correctly both times it eventually got reversed because each time it rendered the state a national laughing stock.
Progress is coming, it's just slower than we'd like.

If this is Kansas, it is EXACTLY down to EVERY DETAIL (shown) just like the one in Kentucky, which I have been to.
So, either these guys are blaming Kansas for something in another state, or these things are like White Castle franchises and all look alike.
The burned out civilization part was my favorite, and the planetarium.

Rovin - 2009-06-17 Ah HA! the FAMILY'S from Wichita. The museum is in KENTUCKY.
