The story behind it is that the director and some of the actors were kidnapped from SK by Kim Jong Il and forced to work on NK movies after initially refusing a "request" to do so. They eventually escaped, but only after being forced to make movies for about 8 years there.

Please tell me that he wrote a book about his life because I will read the hell out of it.

Rumor has it Kim picks South Korean actresses he'd like to "meet" and has them kidnapped and delivered to him.

The monster, who drinks blood and eats metal, is meant to represent capitalism and how evil it is. It's a bit brainier than what you'd expect.
