But still, he has this, its peculiar sequel, (debatably in a complete sense) Poltergeist, and the bizarre but fun Lifeforce to his credit.

I've seen the movie with a commentary track with Tobe Hooper and the guy who played leatherface (Gunnar Hansen).

Towards the end he Gunnar says roughly: "Yeah they told me that it'd be okay if the chainsaw thing went badly.... I later realized that this was because it was my last scene so it didn't matter how badly I got hurt"

Basically this movie came very close to being a news story about "A low budget movie shoot that went horribly wrong"
