I thought the exact opposite was going to happen in this video.

simon666 - 2009-09-16

Glad you liked my rhetoric, reversal of expectation works every time!

Monkey Napoleon - 2009-09-16

Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong. What else are sane and rational people to believe when the oppositions talking points make no sense and are insanely hypocritical? Personally, I'd rather believe that it's more about the growing tendency for average folks to mindlessly parrot the idiotic ramblings of television ENTERTAINERS like it's some kind of legitimate political discourse.

Bort - 2009-09-16

Not everyone who opposes Obama for dumb reasons is a racist, but any time someone speaks of "that one" like he's not a real American by whatever standard, I assume there's at least a little racism at work.

phalsebob - 2009-09-16

Can't we have both racism and mindless aping?

Enjoy - 2009-09-16

This is fantastic. The overwhelming majority of folks who are against Obama's socialism are racists?

Now that the race card has been played, are there any cards left to play?

Frank Rizzo - 2009-09-16

you're fucking retarded, not all but some are.

have you seen some of these protests? Can you read those signs they carry?

Smellvin - 2009-09-16

For those keeping score at home: if you're against Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanamo, increased surveillance of citizens, etc. you're a terrorist. If you're against the proposed healthcare overhaul, cap and trade, cash for clunkers, etc. you're a racist.

Enjoy - 2009-09-16

So which is it? Some or the overwhelming majority?

Enjoy - 2009-09-16

I think Smellvin summed it up. Terrorists versus Racists 209.

Goofy Gorilla - 2009-09-16

"intentionally demonstrated animosity" isn't exactly the same as "expressed opposition to his policies."

Goofy Gorilla - 2009-09-16

Oh and rating+ what are your feelings about Rush's comments that Obama is racist because his white half is getting the better of him?

glasseye - 2009-09-16

Rush is a big fat idiot.

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2009-09-16

enjoy, lacypants, honey, when you're joining a blanket statement group to take on another blanket statement group, the blanket statements of the groups become all-encompassing. you are your allies.

it's liberal pinko commie hippie lesbians versus racist murdering embezzler robots.

GiantAtomicFreak - 2009-09-16

Come on guys, they're not racist. It's just the uppity ones they don't like.

Charles - 2009-09-16

It should not need to be said that "overwhelming majority" and "some" are not the same thing at all, but there it is.

Even so, Carter has a valid point. While most people are against Obama for legitimate reasons (albeit often inarticulate about these reasons), there are some people who cite extremely ignorant and occasionally racist reasons. For instance, claiming that Obama is Muslim (which should not be an issue anyway), and saying that he's "half-white, but leaning toward the side of black".

The "Muslim" comments could be considered racist as well, when you think about how many people think that "Muslim" and "Middle Eastern" mean the same thing.

smoothbrain - 2009-09-16

YOU
DON'T
KNOW
WHAT
SOCIALISM
IS

you fucking big-eared retard

spikestoyiu - 2009-09-16

Do you think it would be twice as bad if he were fully black?

pastorofmuppets - 2009-09-16

No but I think it'd be four times as bad if he were a quarter Mexican.

chumbucket - 2009-09-16

this war would all be far more entertaining and tolerable if we were talking about Chappelle's Black Bush instead of Obama

fatatty - 2009-09-16

A lot of them are racist. But a lot of them also just would rather have the insurance companies rape poor people than have more evenly distributed rape by the government.

Oh and they hate Mexicans too.

memedumpster - 2009-09-16

Racism is one of the few manageable forms of stupidity. Most racists I have known have gotten over it just by being forced to deal with people of other skin tones until they end up admitting they're human beings. Isolationism breeds racism, integration destroys it.

The alternative to these people being racist is that they're megalomaniacs who get a deep emotional satisfaction out of harming people to the point of death. Little dictators, tyrants, and violence fetishists. This kind of thing runs way deeper than racism and cannot be solved by forcing them to be around people they have prejudices against, since the prejudice is just a window decoration to being truly fucking awful human beings.

I hope these people are just racist. I'd hate to think that half the human race is just wired to get off on slaughtering as slowly and painfully as possible the other half.

FABIO - 2009-09-16

There's no racism where blacks and whites live together? What?

Charles - 2009-09-16

Dumpster, I think you're a little backwards. Racism has been around for quite a while, to say the least. And it's never "solved", especially not just by having people of different races live near each other. Tolerance is not the absence of prejudice. It's (kind of) a step in the right direction, but nothing more.

Megalomaniacs, sadists, and psychopaths have actual mental conditions, and are not "normal" people. Racism is not the result of a mental condition, it is the result of thousands of years of conditioning to be prejudiced against people who look different from you. I think racism runs a *bit* deeper than psychopathology

hornung - 2009-09-16

he slips up and says "obamanible circumstance"

carter is still awesome though.

StanleyPain - 2009-09-16

Here's a handy chart for Enjoy and rest of the brain-dead conservatives to consult:

If the criticism about Obama is:
1.) Well-worded, politically insightful, and deals with details about how his policies may not be the best for America, the criticism might actually be earnest.

2. Ill-informed, ignorant catch-phrase reciting using scare-mongering terms like "Hitler" "Socialist" "Nazi" "Communist" "Death" "Kenya" "Muslim" "Africa" etc. without any real, educated political analysis, it's probably just racism.

If you seriously can't tell the difference between actual constructive criticism of Obama and flat out wingnuttery, you might be a redneck.

Pillager - 2009-09-16

I love how the GOP has been distilled to the finest, purist, most blathering Kool Aid of stupidity.

It's like the held a convention & then buried all the moderates a mass grave.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-09-17

Don't worry, they'll be trotted out like prisoners of war in the Khe Sahn around election time, as a purely perfunctory show.

RockBolt - 2009-09-16

I don't know how such a classy, awesome guy came from Plains, Georgia

simon666 - 2009-09-16

Peanuts have everything to do with it.
