Not their funniest stuff, but just a dorky interjection:
Mike from the Young Ones was originally supposed to be Peter Richardson.

His original character that Mike is based on was hilarious, and can be seen on the extras on the DVD box set of the Young Ones. I guess Richardson hated the director and vice versa and so was replaced by that utterly worthless filler character that had no relationship to the live performance that was basically Richardson's entire schtick.
