"The katana: cuts through jelly as if it were jelly."

joffe b - 2009-10-23

wait... so their evidence that katanas cut through the gaijin weapons is... a movie about barbarians fighting with not-katanas? and... wait an AXE?

Didn't that just prove that knights are better warriors than samurai?

Charles - 2009-10-23

Thank you

dementomstie - 2009-10-23

The best way to win any argument is to use clips from Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

No sword would ever make it through an armor. But most of them would pierce them. When europeans understood that (fricking arrows thought them), they let off armors and favored mobility and durability.

This is the reason that swords became progressively thinner with time, from full fledge claymores down to rapiers and finally down to a foil (aka, arrow with a handle).

Japanese katanas aren't meant to go through swords, gun barrels or armor. They're razor blades. In Katori Shinto Ryu, you're thought about precise armor-avoiding cuts that cause hindrance and ultimately, death, once you've removed your opponent's armor.

Not wearing armor? Then you slice him in half.

There. I've exposed all of my swordsmanship nerdiness to you. That's what 5 years of european medieval sword wielding and 7 years of Katori Shinto Ryu does to you.

This video is dumb though. Conan never sliced through his father's sword. He broke it because it was old and worn.

zatojones - 2009-10-23

Conan would totally beat a ninja in a fight

glasseye - 2009-10-23

Gunpowder drove armour from the field, not the bow. People wore armour because it worked.

mcsancherson - 2009-10-24

ahahaha you fuckin faggot

oogaBooga - 2009-10-24

Robert E Howard wrote absolutely nothing about conans father. You know, the guy who created conan?

Conan was born in the middle of a battlefield and both of his parents were killed. Thats about as far as it goes. Anything else is just a fanciful attempt at gap-filling.

spikestoyiu - 2009-10-23

White people are so embarrassing.

simon666 - 2009-10-24

To black people or other white people?

Boxhead - 2009-10-23

Look, a katana does d10 and a long sword does d8. End of story.

Gill_Sans - 2009-10-23

A Full Blade does a D12 and has the high crit property.

Camonk - 2009-10-23

Conflict: SOLVED!

Tameriaen - 2009-10-23

Fullblade: [2d8, 19-20/x2]

Cagle, Eric, Jesse Decker, Jeff Quick, and James Wyatt. Dungeons & Dragons Acessory: Arms and Equipment Guide. Renton: Wizards of the Coast, 2003. 6.

Your dilettantish ignorance is an embarrassment to everyone here.

Camonk - 2009-10-23

Holy Christ. You are not using a six year old supplement for an out of date edition. That is terrible. Shave your beard now. Go watch anime with the rest of the babbys.

sosage - 2009-10-23

That yellow slime at the end has a resistance to blade weapons. So both are useless.

Boxhead - 2009-10-23

Thank you Camonk. Using the 'Full Blade', a weapon from a 3rd edition Dungeons and Dragons supplement, i.e. the edition in which TSR lost control and WOTC (or WOTzis, amirite) began corrupting the spirit of D&D from proper simulation of a fantasy world to focusing more on the 'game' aspects of it is a joke.

Katana, best single-handed sword possible, period.

Learn it, Love it, Live by it.

PurpleXVI - 2009-10-23

That really did make me want to slap someone and drag them out of their basement.

BHWW - 2009-10-23

This makes me think about this one Holy Nippon-obsessed nerd who was a regular at the videogame shop I used to work at some years ago. He collected katanas and would regale people with his totally awesome (and wildly incorrect) knowledge about Japanese swords and Japan itself that could easily be countered by a second-grader with access to an ecyclopedia.

I think it goes without saying he was a chubby 20-something neckbeard and his face from his ears down to his shirt collar was a mess of skin tags.

Camonk - 2009-10-23

The guys who made this video are some of the best trolls in town.

lucienpsinger - 2009-10-23

He's joking. But four stars for katana nerd rage accuracy.
