MISS GORIGHTRY!!!

I CALL PORICE!

That's some quality racism there.

Needs a white people tag. Maybe kept woman tag as well.

Plus, the guy who says, "I gave you a fifty dollar bill! Doesn't that give me some rights?"

MaulLove - 2009-11-10

Good call on the white people tag, I can't believe I didn't think of that!

Hooper_X - 2009-11-10

I wonder if all the college-aged girls who idolize Audrey Hepburn in this film have actually seen it.

snothouse - 2009-11-10

Better yet, read the book. She's a huge slut.

Lurchi - 2009-11-10

I went to one of the most "politically correct" (in the early 90's sense) universities in the country. Many of the women (not "girls" you slob) had posters of this movie in their dorm rooms. When it played in the film series, naturally the theater was packed. Mickey Rooney caused an instant, ghastly silence and a few walk-outs.

This was also referenced in the Bruce Lee bio-pic Dragon, where he is shocked and dismayed by the audience around him howling with laughter at this scene.

Hooper_X - 2009-11-10

If you base your self identity off a goddamned movie character, you're still a girl, not a woman. Slob.

La Loco - 2009-11-10

I haven't read the book, was her neighbor a weeaboo in the book too?

poetry publishing guide - 2009-11-11

It's so weird to me that people would walk out of the theater. I mean, I can understand it if the film had been made earlier that year, but we're talking about something from 1961. Anyhow, I hope the students received plenty of satisfaction from expressing their OMG OUT-RAGE.

I guess I am just dense; can anyone explain to me exactly why so many girls were/are so into this movie/the Hepburn character?

FABIO - 2012-04-16

It's the same plush, chic, shallow lifestyle appeal that Sex & the City uses. It has the added benefit of being old ("classic") with an actress well known for better, classier roles.

I too saw this movie out of curiosity from all the CLASSIC hype, and holy shit it was awful. The audience is supposed to both idolize and feel sorry for two pampered literal whores?

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-31

The original story is great, the movie seems to completely miss the point.

BHWW - 2009-11-10

That's some yellowface for ya.

boner - 2009-11-10

Mickey Rooney is still alive and touring

Cleaner82 - 2009-11-11

If you're implying I should kill Mickey Rooney you're out of line mister.

Camonk - 2009-11-10

Truman Capote was a shitty writer anyhow. Everything except his dialogue was pretentious, absurdly overwritten tripe.

StanleyPain - 2009-11-10

My fucking jaw dropped when I saw this shit for the first time. So many people were like "OH BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S IS A CLASSIC!! YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!" An ex girlfriend who liked dipsy chick flick crap talked me into watching it and I just about wanted to throw something through the TV when this came on. The movie sucked anyway, but this just made me want to murder everyone who ever touted this as some kind of cinematic masterpiece.

I'll give Capote In Cold Blood, but fuck this shit.

Camonk - 2009-12-25

In Cold Blood is overwritten tripe.

Riskbreaker - 2009-11-10

Capote wrote this? Maybe he was trolling his readers.

Boxhead - 2009-11-10

Well, not to slow down the Capote hating, but the Mr. Yunioshi, described in the book by a character as 'A little Jap' and a perverted old guy who wanted to take (artistic?) pictures of Holly, he was not the gibbering mess of racism Rooney made him to be. Hell, the character doesn't even have a noticeable accent in the book.

CornOnTheCabre - 2009-11-11

:(

i still really like this movie.

duck&cover - 2009-11-11

For more racial impersonation, see Marlon Brando in "Teahouse of the
August Moon."

poetry publishing guide - 2009-11-11

Five automatic stars for anything involving Mickey Rooney.

Old_Zircon - 2012-08-31

This is the only thing that makes this movie worth watching.
