Zoot42 Seeing live actors with anime-style hair is hilarious.
memedumpster I am so down for this, no matter how bad it actually turns out to be.
Reefer Fez Thank God the Japanese are doing it, and not Disney.
BHWW Wasn't there talk during the 90's that the Devlin/Emmerich team were going to make a live action "Star Blazers" complete with a salvaged USS Arizona being turned into a starship?
The 1990's were the time for all sorts of crazy rumors about live action US productions based on anime, so I may not be remembering correctly.
Caminante Nocturno There have been rumors (perceived as threats) of Hollywood making a live-action Evangelion for about as long as the show itself has been around. I also remember hearing rumors of a live-action Sailor Moon starring Keanu Reeves as Tuxedo Mask back in the late 90's.
Caminante Nocturno Also, I'm pretty sure someone is going to make a live-action Akira movie.
freedoom The live action evangelion had a whole bunch of pre-production hoopla a few years back. ADV was going to try their hand at movie production and had sketches done by Weta.
The last rumor i heard was a live action Akira.
James Cameron still owns the rights to make a live action Battle Angel Alita and he still puts it on his list of pojects he is working on.
this says they are still working on the script and are going into production this year. http://movies.ign.com/articles/102/1021972p1.html
Toenails Here's hoping Cameron's Alita project takes off. And also that it doesn't bother with the first story arc where she and Ido are Hunter Warriors.
(Goddammit, if I have to hear Hugo whine about Tiphares ONE MORE TIME....)
Xenocide The Evangelion movie is basically dead. ADV barely has enough money to subtitle anime anymore. When you consider that subtitling anime is something fat college students do in their spare time, this casts some doubt on their ability to finance a special effects film.
Cameron just recently managed to pass off the biggest heap of worn cliches I've ever seen as "a revolutionary motion picture event," so if he wants Alita made I don't think any force can stop him.
garcet71283 I'm just happy that pseudo science-fiction has caught the attention of Hollywood again. Crap or not, any scifi is better than none.
sosage Live action Akira? Isn't that like making an ice cream cake but you decide to just make a pile of oatmeal shaped like a cake instead?
