In the short interview linked below he mentions that she wasn't paying taxes and that she had publicly pledged large sums of money to an orphanage and didn't follow through.
They are all the goddamn same, really. As long as there are fools there will be those who wish to separate them from their money. I'm not that far from doing it myself, really. FOr those unaware of the context: Lane attempted to set Randi up to look stupid by bringing out assorted equipment with which one would perform tasks of "psychic" ability and try to make him do the same things (assuming Randi wouldn't be able to) Randi successfully performed a few tricks and Lane lost it on him.
