I was thinking the same thing. Then I saw the black lines on either side of the video. this means someone squashed the video slightly by rendering in Vertical pixels when the original video was shot in square pixel format. Or this is originally PAL and has been recompressed to NTSC or square standards. I realize that's the technical explanation no one asked for, but there you have it.

At first I thought the box simply burst, and was surprised by the amount of force. But when you look at the slow mo, you can see a spark just before the explosion happens. I think what occured here was the alcohol evaporated, and the spark, caused by a bit of metal in the wine box, ignited the fumes.

I'm betting we'll see this one on a future episode of mythbusters.
