Part 5 and 6 are up, now with more atrocities!

You should watch this one. Some of the stories the women tell are horrifying,all the more so because they were actually traumatised by it, unlike so many of the people they interview in your submission.These are terrible things, and even moreso told by somebody who actually experienced it as terror, instead of as sport or a bid for power. Also, I just can't take some fat white guy from North America to be a credible vehicle for a story like this. What does he have to do with any of it, other than some morbid curiosity and sense of first-world horror at a world he can't understand and has nothing in common with? And when they're not getting his opinion, they're talking to drug addicts, boy soldiers, and war lords. The thing that drew me to this documentary is the fact that it's not told from the perspective of the bad guys. The oppressors always get the most airtime; it's in the very nature of oppression.

I apologize, I was really just doing that for the snarky commentary- honestly I am a hopeless optimist and things like this bring me to tears.

About the video I posted though- they are putting up the final segments- it does kinda turn into a story of redemption, about trying to heal the child soldiers and at least one of the generals recognizing what he did was wrong.

The fat guy from North America, though, is pretty honest about the fact that he is just touristing through and documenting his own weird experiences- he does the same with going to Chernobyl and North Korea and all the other messed up places. It's not meant to win any awards, just to show people things they had no idea about.

I dunno if I could even really call it a 'true' documentary- the Vice thing I mean- not like this one- it's more of a gonzo type deal.

I would suggest, if you like more uplifting doco stuff, check out 'Scared Sacred'- about a fellow who travels the world to places like Bhopal and Afghanistan to document how ordinary people refuse to give up and do what they need to to make a horrible thing better.
