People here* (where "here" is anywhere outside of Texas, really) don't believe half the things I tell them about my home state, like that Texas history is required in all levels of school, that in pretty much any university, you can take Texas history in lieu of the second half of American history, that you can't vote until you've shot to death, or tried in good faith to shoot to death, a wetback, a nigger, or an injun, or two carpetbaggers or Frenchmen.
