Magical Man from Happy-Land - 2010-06-26

hey how about just not believing in your ridiculous dictatorial sky god in the first place lady?

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2010-06-26

Is there anybody who unironically refers to the Christian god as the "invisible wizard in the sky" or comparable term thereof who isn't A.) completely intolerable, or B.) still in highschool?

SolRo - 2010-06-26

There's a lot less of those people than insufferable sky wizard worshipers.

Camonk - 2010-06-27

So do answer Dessert's question, no absolutely not.

I like that it took her a year of prayer AND research to go, hey maybe my friend is more important than what a bunch of bigots say!

memedumpster - 2010-06-27

Person pulls self out of quicksand, pisses off Magical Man From Happy Land. "Quicksand means you sink, faggot!"

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2010-06-26

Even if I don't believe in what she does, it's nice to see that she's at least accepting that not everything in the bible is correct, and is making up her own mind on some issues. It's a step in the right direction, as far as I'm concerned.

takewithfood - 2010-06-27

It is a step in the right direction, and that's super, but I don't see any evidence that she's going to make any others. She only made this one because she was repeatedly exposed to an actual lesbian - several of them, in fact - and even then it sounds as though it took her a very long time before she came around.

The part about the hateful things the other evangelicals said to her made me cringe the most. That should have been the biggest wake-up call that her entire belief system is poisonous, but instead she seems to want to the hateful assholes to know that she's still one of them in every way except this one little one.

Candlejackv616 - 2010-06-27

Now do you think if she was exposed to a bunch of atheists for a long period of time, and I mean ones that aren't arrogant high school/college students or too cool for their own good pseudo intellectuals, but just average people who just don't buy into religion, do you think she might have a change of heart? or do you think that atheism is just pushing it?

It always seemed like these types of people would be more willing to accept homosexuality at the end of the day than people who simply don't believe period, especially if the homosexual in question does believe in god.

SolRo - 2010-06-27

Ohh fuck you candle.

Being religious makes you more likely to be tolerant? FUCK. YOU.

(Yes, I know it's ironic that I'm not tolerating your numbskullery, but being an idiot is a choice)

pastorofmuppets - 2010-06-27

Sure, they should be more accepting of all types of people, and churches shouldn't have gift shops.

Candlejackv616 - 2010-06-27

Actually soiro thats not what I ment at all, I just ment if this chick was around a bunch of lesbians and eventually became more tolerant after a certain amout of time then I figure if shes around a bunch of well rounded athiests then she'd be accepting of them too . See I'm actually and athiest myself and when iv simply stated i am when asked of what my belief system is (or in this case lack thereof) iv been met with some hostility in the past, usually from very religious folks.

Though if you take it that I'm a idiot cause why? cause of my observation about gays being accepted slightly more than atheists based on them say being christian at least, oh please man I'll give you the benefit of the doubt an presume you read my shit wrong, especially since what is stated was to get some conversation going and not incite anything negative nor was I trying to insult the chick in the video either, besides what my observation isn't that far fetched, as some people are willing to put their bigotry aside if someone they oppose or hate my have something in common like saaay religion...

Camonk - 2010-06-27

Dude, don't take it personal. SolRo misses points like the deserts miss the rain.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-06-28

I think Candle was saying that it's unfortunate that this woman had to break ties with fundamentalist Christians in order to become more Christ-like. IMO that's more of a reflection on fundamentalism than on Christianity.

*But* you can't deny that there are a lot of otherwise decent Christians out there who just don't get or tolerate it. (Atheists, for their part, know what it's like to be called corrupt for forgetting to follow some rules that they never agreed to.)

pastorofmuppets - 2010-06-27

Turns out I can watch RMS eat some mysterious shit off his foot, but an idiot figuring out human decency after a 30 year delay is too painful.

Hubba Bubba Nightmare - 2010-06-27

I liked the cranium game in the background.

Robin Kestrel - 2010-06-27

She started asking. Once you stop buying into one part of the system, the questions keep coming.
