There's no mention of oil.

Miskimo - 2010-06-25

interesting but maybe you could hold off on blaming this on the oil spill
unless you can point to some evidence for that?

SolRo - 2010-06-25

GUYZ DONT JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS, YOU COULD HURT BP'S STOCK!

Scynne - 2010-06-25

More like you could hurt people's desire to search for the actual cause.

SolRo - 2010-06-25

riiight, the oil company has zero interest in sending its own testing team out there to prove it's not their fault.

a couple news reports and some internet posts are awesome evidence when suing a company for damages too

why must you people be so stupid?

Camonk - 2010-06-25

SolRo's new strategy: random collision of words and smug closer. That way when he doesn't make sense, it's YOUR fault.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2010-06-25

It's something that could be tested. Take a few hundred samples of water from the Gulf that have had the oil/dispersant in it. Evaporate it. Test the evaporant for chemicals. Then test the evaporant on crops.

Most of the moisture for rain comes out of the Gulf for the deep south in the summer months - so the source of whatever hit it, if it was part of rain, had its source in the Gulf.

It's very well possible a waterspout could have lifted some of the oil/dispersant and dumped it in a localized location 50 miles away. It's also possible the oil/dispersant is evaporating at an alarming rate due to the heat of the water and summer and is sticking to water molecules when it condenses.

Nevertheless, this is why we should devote billions to emergency science squads who can sort these things out as soon as possible.

Hubba Bubba Nightmare - 2010-06-25

Obama should fillibuster this oil rain

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-06-25

haha. That's real funny.

It won't be as funny when food prices start to soar because of this.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-06-25

I just wanted to say that anyone who thinks the oil spill, which is right next to the area being affected by TOXIC FUCKING RAIN are somehow unrelated, is a fucking moron.

Only in America could we represent such complete and total specimens of utter arrogance such as you. Fuck you. Fuck your allowance of offshore drilling and your complacent attitude towards corporations that have ruined our environment. These people need to have every cent of their assets seized and BP should be disallowed any further involvement in the plugging of the oil spill. The Navy and the rest of the military should take over from here, and every scientist worth a damn should be brought in, and not these total lackeys who are, as we speak, still trying to just COLLECT OIL that they can from the leak.

But feel free to continue ignoring everything that is going to come of this. Feel free to continue attacking me for posting new articles related to our degrading environment and the people who are telling you to distrust these entities who lie to you daily. Feel free to call me a hippy douche and a reactionary and someone who flips out for no reason, a Luddite, I've been called it all before.

The only thing is, I'm right. Scientists who study the environment are right. And they should be listened to over people that say anything to continue making billions of dollars.

oddeye - 2010-06-25

I blame Fox News.

In all seriousness I believe some other poster said "Big Business is far worse for us than Big Government" and in this case I have to agree. Just stop the leak already. I don't care if you have to sink an aircraft carrier to plug the hole, just get it done.

SolRo - 2010-06-25

at this point it's impossible to seal the leak without the bypass wells.

worst case scenario; the ground around the well pipe is so unstable that it will never be completely sealed.

Miskimo - 2010-06-25

Yeah I'm actually very interested in what scientists who study the environment would have to say about this. You are not one and none are featured or quoted in this video.

I'm absolutely for switching to clean power sources / reducing consumption as fast as humanely possible and have no sympathy for BP.

Have you considered the possibility that this could be due to some other polluting activity and that in that case simply blaming the oil spill based on a rough coincidence of time and place would let those poluters off the hook? Was flooding in Alabama caused by the spill too?

Point me to enviromental scientist suggesting a mechanism for crop damage due to the dispersant/oil and collect 5 ghost stars. I would be very interested. All I've been able to find on line suggesting this so far is "chemtrails" sites.

Miskimo - 2010-06-25

Actually I just found one myself -
http://www.eutimes.net/2010/05/toxic-oil-spill-rains-warned-co uld-destroy-north-america/
You should have posted that instead of assuming people didn't believe who because you like Phish or whatever

Miskimo - 2010-06-25

Still can't find a copy of the actual report by Ministry of Natural Resources in Russia. If anyone locates this please post it here.

Miskimo - 2010-06-25

Woah - fuck. I should have checked that "eutimes" site before linking to it. Other headlines: "White newborn babies set to become a minority in the U.S. next year", "Negro Child Rapist Suspect Wanted in Louisiana", "Children with no racial bias have mental disorder" and many more racist and insane gems. That seems to be the original story that all others mention the putative Russian report link. So, back to square one in finding anything approaching a reliable source.

Camonk - 2010-06-25

I don't think anybody is saying "THIS ISN'T OIL YOU FATUOUS HIPPIES"

I think what they're saying is LET'S DO SCIENCE ON IT TO UNDERSTAND THE CONNECTION. And then SolRo and you twirl in calling everybody corporate drone morons. I've said it before, but when SolRo agrees with you this closely, you need to sit back and reassess where your life has taken you.

That said, yeah, fuck, giant corporations are terrifying. They're horrible and evil.

Syd Midnight - 2010-06-26

I think ROUS is just new to the scientific method and needs to learn how to cite more credible sources before people will stop assuming that it's some hippy conspiracy BS.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-06-26

Oh, you are so darling when you patronize. But really, I think that it's really fucking obvious what is going on, and I don't think it takes an enormous leap of logic to link these two phenomena. And I'm more than versed in scientific method.

I'm also well aware that spouting a bunch of antagonistic jargon denying that something like this should be linked with the oil spill and mocking me for not submitting a thesis to you over the subject is ridiculous, and furthermore the oil execs love nothing more than for people to delude themselves to their intense betrayal to humanity.

Syd Midnight - 2010-11-07

Oil execs like nothing more than when their detractors make themselves look like a bunch of credulous, untrustworthy, borderline-delusional jackasses. So great work there!

memedumpster - 2010-06-25

Wow that sucks, I hope this shit doesn't get worse. It blows living in a world without Richard Feynman to save us all the time. Also, correlation does not imply causation.

BorrowedSolution - 2010-06-25

Confirmation bias! Confirmation bias!!

5 because whatever's landing on those craps is bad, bad shit. Are we all agreed on that? Or does somebody think this is a good thing?

urbanelf - 2010-06-26

How would the toxic rain cause the blowout preventer to fail?

kennydra - 2010-06-25

I don't know yet if this is caused the the oil spill but it is still very disconcerting. The dead birds are particularly alarming, though it could be unrelated. This is still some spooky shit.

kennydra - 2010-06-25

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-06-26

Apparently there may be a connection to both the oil spill and the amount of Corexit that was poured into the Gulf as well. I left a complete list of links at this URL

http://www.poe-news.com/forums/sp.php?pi=1002327068

I think this may lead to long term crop catastrophe.

Syd Midnight - 2010-11-07

Yeah keep us updated on that
