1:24: Bus threatens oncoming truck with deadly mao waves.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2010-08-02

There's an awful lot of white people riding that thing.

Smellvin - 2010-08-02

Chinese people are smart enough to stay off those things. They're just for tourists.

HankFinch - 2010-08-02

I don't get it. It's like the automated walkways in airports, but your supposed drive into like you're Knight Rider?

Oktay - 2010-08-02

I see a tram that is independent of car traffic. Pretty cool, except when people drive over the rails and block it just the same.

Comatose2 - 2010-08-03

You're right that it won't solve all gridlock problems, but it will certainly help. I'm looking forward to seeing how effective it is.

My concern is with just how safe it will be in the inevitable collisions. Like if someone runs into the side of the trolley/bus, will it collapse on top of a bunch of cars? Chinese cars are infamous for how poorly they fare in crash tests, so I shudder to think of how they will fare when a bus falls on them.

roughnready66 - 2010-08-02

If drivers already have an irrational fear of driving too close to jersey barriers, a moving tunnel is going to be a tough sell.

Scynne - 2010-08-03

Only North American drivers have a problem with that. Try driving in Germany.

heyitslozeau - 2010-08-02

wait, what?

heyitslozeau - 2010-08-02

so this just makes people drive in their own fucking lanes?

Potrod - 2010-08-02

No, it reduces traffic by removing all the buses from the road, replacing them with this thing that basically takes up zero space on the road that normal cars use. Basically it seems like it's just adding a bus-only lane without taking any more space on the ground.

takewithfood - 2010-08-02

That does not look even remotely safe.

Candlejackv616 - 2010-08-03

I bet that gets said a lot in china.

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2010-08-02

Yeah there's only a couple thousand ways this can go horrifically wrong. The world is going to hell, and this is the bus that will take us there.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-08-02

IN THE FUTURE THERE WILL BE FLYING CARS. ROBOT MAIDS. AND THIS THING AS DEMONSTRATED BY CARDBOARD MODELS IN 1957. WELCOME TO THE FUTUREWORLD OF TOMORROWLAND.

urbanelf - 2010-08-02

This will impact the lives of .00000000% of the Chinese people.

memedumpster - 2010-08-03

This could be the setup for the greatest robbery ever.

Comatose2 - 2010-08-03

I think this design is a good idea, and apparently it will be a reality within the next couple of months.

Ersatz - 2010-08-03

This is a terrific idea for AtGradeCrossingsOnly City, South ThirtyFootOverpassClearancekota.
I can't wait to see the version of this:
