I remember really liking this when I was five. I went on it three times in a row before my parents refused to stand in line anymore and gently suggested we go somewhere else.
The last time I was at Disneyland was back in '92 the same day the Rodney King riots started. Pretty damn surreal given I had the park practically to myself while just north about 20 miles LA burned.
This ride has some amazingly well-connected and insane fans, most of them hang out at www.doom-buggies.com. Every year they have a rather expensive (but well worth it) night where they rent the place as a group and have a walk-through tour.
This last year, they had a catered dinner in the stretch-room elevator.
It costs like 0 a person to participate, but some year I'm going to do it.
