BorrowedSolution, head over to imdb and look at the message board created for this movie. What you'll find is a majority of posts by furries with names like "YiffyWolf420" hinting suggestively about how they're looking forward to the "cool love story" and how they think the girl wolf is hot.

Basically adults who have sexual fantasies about anthropomorphic idealized animals (typically the ones found in animation) are really, really interested in this movie. I don't think that it's an accident either.

Macho Nacho hit it on the head. This looks EXACTLY like a bunch of Mary Sue characters some obsessed fan of "Balto" made.

If you browse through the furaffinty, neondragonart, or deviantart sites you'll find tons of drawings that look EXACTLY like these characters. It's like the character designers did a search for "inner wolf spirit emo hair" or "my original wolf character plz rate XOXOXO" and called it a day.

And I concur with Mr. Shark, there's no way this was a mistake. This was a calculated maneuver to market an otherwise small time film to a market full of obsessed people with too much money on their hands.
