Crispin Glover was supposed to have played this. I wish that could have happened.
He would have been amazing as Philo or in Weird Al's role, too. Imagine if that was the only change in the movie.

UHF had some awesome scenes embedded in a terrible movie.
This is one of those scenes.
Terrible in the sense that every scene that either furthered the plot or involved the bad guys was painfully bad. Just annoying... not at all funny. Similarly, many of the paradies (both of movies and of TV shows) were horribly predictable and didn't cause me to crack a smile at all. This despite the fact that I was a Weird Al fan at the time.
Counterpoint: almost every scene with Stanley was brilliant.
Did you see this movie in the context in which it was released or are you approaching it as a representative of contemporary cinematic values judging it within those constraints?
It's crap either way.
