So everyone who doesn't live on McDonalds lives on Starbucks drinks and sweetened fruit smoothies?

Oscar Wildcat - 2010-10-25

fucking vegetables, how do they work?

Innocent Bystander - 2010-10-25

I'm just waiting for some invention that enables to you to eat food within your own house. That'll be something.

Cena_mark - 2010-10-25

He's just saying the fast food joints are getting an unnecessarily bad rap. The real problem nowadays is that people are too busy to cook healthy meals.

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-25

Too lazy or too poor. A mom can feed her entire family McDonald's for under . That's obviously very tempting to someone who doesn't have much money. As for too busy, drive by an Olive Garden or some other horrible food facsimile on a weekday night and there's usually a wait. While a family spends an hour housing unlimited breadsticks and salad, they can be cooking up one of the thousands of healthy dishes that takes much less time (prep time factored in, cleanup maybe not so much -- but that's why people have kids and dishwashers) and costs much less money.

RocketBlender - 2010-10-26

Do you only get your groceries at specialized organic stores? At most grocers, I promise you, you can easily feed a family of 4 a way healthier, more filling meal than McDonald's for under .

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-26

I don't. Most of my grocery shopping is done at places like Giant, Genaurdi's, or Trader Joe's (which is actually really cheap). And I'll only dare venture into a place like Whole Foods if I need something the other three don't usually stock, like coconut milk. I only ever cook for myself, so I'll take your word for it.

boner - 2010-10-30

With the price of beef going through the fuckin' roof, that's a deal.

Old_Zircon - 2013-03-11

You could feed a whole family for under from the dollar menu.

Innocent Bystander - 2010-10-25

InFact - the educational YouTube program for idiots.

Oscar Wildcat - 2010-10-25

Oh my stars, what a magnificent bastard.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2010-10-25

Can we replace "skepticism" with "libertarian bullshit?"

Old_Zircon - 2010-10-25

Yeah, this guy is the worst at skepticism.

Macho Nacho - 2010-10-25

Fine.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2010-10-25

Thanks, inFact. I'll get right on switching my eating habits right after taking your advice to stop snorting Plutonium and switch to Radium instead.

Riskbreaker - 2010-10-25

When did this revisionistic bullshit began to take so much impulse?

jangbones - 2010-10-25

when there started to be so much profit in it

guaranteed that some giant company or conservative institution created this entire show and website

jaunch - 2010-10-25

Na, there's no institution as far as a I know. It's all just Dunning trying to milk as much exposure as possible. Make no mistake: Dunning is a d-bag. I've seen him in real life. He mentions his own name constantly and everything he says is in an affected radio DJ voice.

Rum Revenge - 2010-10-25

Wow, all this time I've been blaming McDonald's mustard for my obesity, but it was really the iced tea I drink at Starbucks occasionally!

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-25

And why pick mustard to use as an example? Shit has zero calories.

citrusmirakel - 2010-10-25

McDonald's uses the same wholesalers as the grocery store near my house?

This is the kind of untrue where the people making it are just smart enough to recognize they're being intentionally deceptive.

pathetique - 2010-10-25

Apparently, this man only goes out to eat at Denny's.

Also Starbucks is considered healthy what?

Raggamuffin - 2010-10-25

How better to paint a picture of your fictional adversaries?

Fucking liberals drink at starbucks amirite?!?

SolRo - 2010-10-25

Needs a 'BorrowedSolution is a gullible idiot' tag

BorrowedSolution - 2010-10-25

I'm failing to see where "Stop eating so much, you pigs" is automatically wrong, here.

BorrowedSolution - 2010-10-25

Also: you seem to be saying that "If you agree with one thing this person says, you agree with EVERYTHING they say!!!" That's an awesome debate tactic if you're trying to poison the well, I guess.

It's not terribly intelligent, though. I don't personally eat a lot of fast food because I like to take the time to cook at home for my family.

SolRo - 2010-10-25

His argument could also be: As long as you eat less than 2000 calories of margerine each day, it's better than 3000 calories of hippy food!

It's a retarded argument that is lapped up by retards like you.

SolRo - 2010-10-25

Also, this jackass is awesomely selective about using JUST the big mac for his stupid caloric argument, but people do not get just the burger, they get it with fries and a soda.

bigmac 570 calories

medium friest 380 calories

medium coke 200 calories

so that's over 1000 calories for one meal, not even a supersized.

BorrowedSolution - 2010-10-25

Nice of you to address my point about not necessarily agreeing with him about everything. Oh right, you didn't do that.

My bad. I guess you agree wholeheartedly with everybody you happen to have points in common with, yourself? What's your definition of gullible?

BorrowedSolution - 2010-10-25

That's okay, though. I'm sure it suits your purposes better to go after me, since I'm actually here and you can pwn me with your superior knowledge, instead of having an actual argument with the person who made the original argument.

You may very well be more intelligent than I am (it's seriously not very hard), but you're a bit of a dick, too, brah.

minimalist - 2010-10-25

butt

hurt

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-25

Relax, guys, and have yourself a smoothie.

sosage - 2010-10-25

All I heard was "hurp durp durp"...but it sounded hilarious.

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-25

What an asshole.

The one surefire way to sniff out someone who doesn't know shit about nutrition is see whether or not they look beyond calories when making calls like this. Yes, three Big Macs a day puts you at 1770, which can be too many or too few calories depending on your current size and situation. But it also puts you at 102 grams of fat (and 33 grams of saturated fat -- 165% of your suggested daily value), 3210 milligrams of sodium (135% of daily suggested daily value). It's also only giving you 36% of your daily suggested fiber and embarrassing few vitamins. You're going to need more than ten pieces of shredded lettuce for that. And this coming from a guy who loves Big Macs.

Also, who actually thinks a place like Applebee's or Red Robin is better than McDonald's? Who has ever made that suggestion?

This video in particular reeks of bitter, Libertarian bullshit, with what is a pretty obvious swipe at Spurlock. Though he makes it sound like theaters are crawling with that, that's the only documentary focused on fast food that I can possibly think of. For the record, the actual FOOD at Starbucks is actually fairly healthy. Funny that he picks on the beverages there when he specifically tells you to avoid the beverages at McDonald's.

As for the mysterious and all-encompassing "fruit smoothie", he (not surprisingly) doesn't get into brands or serving sizes or ingredients. Most homemade fruit smoothies will carry more sugar than a Big Mac (because, no fucking shit, they're made with fruit), but have about half as many calories and a fraction of the fat. Plus, you know, some vitamins and shit.

For the record, whenever I need to make weight for something, I replace my usual lunch with a greens smoothie (fruit and veggies) from the local raw foods cafe and can drop three pounds in a week.

takewithfood - 2010-10-25

I guess I don't need to type a reply.

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-25

I was getting a massage when I remembered "Fast Food Nation", which I'm fairly certain had a theatrical release. So TWO whole movies about fast food.

takewithfood - 2010-10-25

Comment, not reply. I don't need to leave a comment. Point is, this is what I wanted to say. Jesus, why do I visit and comment at PoeTV as soon as I wake up? I need a smoothie.

MongoMcMichael - 2010-10-25

You're right! The Birthday Cake Mini-Doughnut is not only one hundred thirty calories per serving, but it also has less than one gram of protein! Taste the health at Starbucks!

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-25

"actual food" "FAIRLY". Please.

kingarthur - 2010-10-25

Starbucks: just as bad as Mickey D's and twice the price!

RomancingTrain - 2010-10-25

Please, please, please stick to conspiracy theories and religion, your Libertarian is showing.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-10-25

Fast food is a-okay, says the man in the bulging Hawaiian shirt.

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-25

And we all know what Homer Simpson says about the two types of people who wear Hawaiian shirts.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2010-10-25

This guy is the scientific equivalent of that For The Record guy, completely misrepresenting inane concepts to push his political agenda.

they'reforyou - 2010-10-25

Well, I was certainly in a Starbucks writing my screenplay, and I was certainly slurping a white. . .uh. . . I've said too much.

jangbones - 2010-10-25

I would just like to point out how fat this dude is.

spikestoyiu - 2010-10-25

I'm thinking about filming a video response with my shirt off.

themilkshark - 2010-10-25

His neck weirds me out.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-10-25

Well, you can't win them all, can you?

Cube - 2010-10-25

Dun dun dun...ning.

minimalist - 2010-10-25

kru ger

Old_Zircon - 2010-10-25

Conservative fast food drives like this; liberal fast food drives like THIS.

And how about that airplane food? What's up with THAT?

3 stars because I don't know whether to rate this video high for idiocy or low for idiocy.

Corman's Inferno - 2010-10-25

One star for putting this under the "skepticism" tag

Nikon - 2010-10-25

Love the doll-like creepy stare he makes.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2010-10-25

Weird. Interesting and valid points deep fried in hydrogenated cultural assumptions. Why pick on Hollywood? Documentaries like Supersize me and Food Inc are hardly part of the studio system. And what is the fuck has Starbucks got to do with anything? Who is stupid enough to think that a frappacino is food?

The last time I went to Starbucks, I had a black coffee which has zero calories. ZERO! I'm willing to bet that "coffee" is still the number one seller at Starbucks. They have vats of the stuff on hand. Still, I didn't need Professor Smug to tell me that I'm better off living on Big Macs than on coffee.

Cena Mark is right on the money this time. The problem is that people are too busy to cook healthy meals.

charmlessman - 2010-10-25

FOR... THE... RECORD!!

Old_Zircon - 2010-10-25

Hey, guys, did you know drinking bleach gets a bad rap? Liquid Plumr is a lot worse for you.
