people still play original super mario bros.

There are people who try to educate today's youth on the video games of yesteryear - and you can still pick up original NES carts and systems at stores these days (though it's easier and free just to emulate). Most people have some older sibling or an uncle or some older friend, possibly even a creepy neighbor, who tries to educate them on "the good stuff" so kids don't grow up thinking Pokemon is awesome. It's a valuable public service, and some kids slip through the cracks, but rest assured, not everyone grows up thinking that stuff that came out before they were born is dumb.

Those kids also recognized In the Hall of the Mountain King, which predates Mario by a good decade or ten. Don't sell them short.

I'd rather hear him do some less-known Danzig song like "Brand New God" or something to creep the audience out.

"Texas is the Reason" by the Misfits.

Soul On Fire or Snakes of Christ would also be good.
