Funny how you automatically equate it as "surprising" that "social democrats" would turn on Assange, and make sure to get that term in there. Is this because, in clumsily trying to make some weird jab at the left, you automatically associate "social democrats" as the only ones who actually give a shit about free speech as opposed to the other side who...well... don't?

His example of Putin as representative of "Social Democrats" is pretty fucking stupid. Mostly because he's lacking the Democratic part. Most countries in Europe have Socialist Democratic parties that vary from country to country and almost none of them have any sort of totalitarian bent.

Though there are plenty of reasons for plenty of people, including Russia, to be mad at Assange. Namely exposing their shady dealings. I think the point that he is right about is that these ladies were influenced by outside sources to take down Assange. However I doubt it was leftists fighting for social justice.

Assange has stated Russian leaks are coming up soon and any number of governments/corporations could have assisted these ladies in their trial to take him down for the equivalent of taking down Capone for tax evasion.

It's like using Nazis as an example of socialism and North Korea as an example of democrats because they disingenuously used those terms in their party names.

There were arrest warrants issued with international reach, he was placed on the top of Interpol's"Red Notice" list (putting him alongside terrorists and drug cartel leaders) and the media and government intelligence agencies across the world were trying to find him. I don't know what definition of "international manhunt" you're using, but it meets mine.
