I smell a They Live sequel.

Yay, now Americans never have to learn another language.

|
Adramelech - 2010-12-17 We wouldn't need this if everyone would just hurry up at learn English already. What a bunch of uncouth barbarians.

Interesting... how does it maintain typeface integrity?
Anyhow, enjoy playing with your gadgets made from blood minerals and slave labor! Enjoy being a slave to your carrier.

namtar - 2010-12-17 If you're going to make those complaints about iphone manufacturing, you're going to have to complain about pretty much everything else currently on the market.
Not that it makes it better or anything.

By turning everything into all-caps Helvetica, if the demo is any indication.

This thing is going to start so many fights.

Cool but obvious app. Now we need some sort of augmented reality app that blanks out and mutes people who conversationally bring up their latest iPhone apps.

urbanelf - 2010-12-17
Next, an app that infers what people look like naked.

Meerkat - 2010-12-17 Oh fuck I wish I were retired and sober.

That's ridiculously fucking cool.

Adramelech - 2010-12-17
Yeah yeah, whatever you say future. Hurry up with the flying cars I was promised as a child.

Hmm, there are some clear idiomatic errors in the video meant to advertise this. Was it intentional?
Well anyway. Text recognition and translation software smashed together. I guess it's about time.

boner - 2010-12-18
I don't want translation, I just want it to change all the fonts to Futura so I can live in Wes Anderson's world.

fluffy - 2010-12-18
Okay, I'd been hearing a lot about this app but I figured it was just a fancy version of Google Translate. If that video is for real, then no, it is not just a fancy version of Google Translate. And it's free, and works on the iPod Touch? Shit, I'm going to have so much fun with this.
|
fluffy - 2010-12-18 Trying it out now. The demo version only gives you two modes, 'reverse words' and 'erase words.' Considering that those are very very simple text operations, that very quickly shows that no, it's not even remotely as awesome as in the demo. It has a hard time finding text and is very slow and laggy. Also, each language mode is - that is, Spanish to English and English to Spanish each cost , so it's total. I'm not going to spend that much to have something slightly faster than Google Translate.

Now I want the They Live app and call it "Put On The Damn Sunglasses!"
