Was just going to submit this. Glenn Greenwald lays down some fierce knowledge here. Fucking awesome.
Greenwald's afterthoughts on the debate (watch for the space in the url:
I really hate this interview format. Greenwald comes and exposes the truth in a very rational and simple to understand way and neither of the other two talking heads acknowledges what he has said. They go on and read their scripts, going so far as to repeat that Assange has committed crimes.
The real beatdown/knockout is at 9:23. Her response is fluster.
I could disclose certain things myself, but I don't want to embarrass CNN.
Clear liberal bias.
"We would draw a distinction between information that comes to you and information that is stolen."
I've never wanted to slap someone more.
Killer video, but the tags need some work. Was that supposed to be "CNN"?
It stands for non-nude. Chet's just upset that Fran Townsend doesn't take it off.
I'll have to show this to the idiots who cry and moan "Faux News is destroying journalism."
I told you journalism is dead. I told you in 2008 when the media canonized an inexperienced, unproven, candidate merely on the fact that he was black, handsome, and could make impossible promises.
It's not journalism that's dead, it's television and (to a lesser degree) print.
What's left without TV and Print? Just the blogosphere and talk radio. Sorry, but it is dead.
You're just mad because grampa McCain didn't get voted.
Of course I'm mad about McCain losing, but that doesn't take away from the truth about the media's treatment of Obama. The man had absolutely nothing under his belt yet the media treated him like a super hero destined to save liberal America. Now I laugh at the liberal butt-hurt displayed over their buyers remorse. Shoulda gone with Hillary I guess...
At least I know McCain is a man of integrity. For God's sake he turned down an early release from the Hanoi Hilton as not to leave his fellow soldiers behind. And this is after he faced torture.
That was in the late 60s. In the last 40 years since then he has proven that he is willing to comprimise his integrity for a small pile of political hay.
He was a man of great integrity, at least, until he accepted Sarah Palin as a running mate. He may have displayed sound judgment up to that time, but this was a visibly deteriorating candidate with a pure idiot waiting in the wings to replace him.
That choice alone, plainly chosen as a short-sighted cynical marketing gimmick, disqualified him in many people's minds who otherwise might have voted for him. That's where the tea-party mentality started doing its real corrosive damage to the GOP, and it's still happening today.
Barack had more governmental experience under his belt when he was elected than Lincoln. The accusation that he was an untested novice was a bullshit talking point with no basis in fact.
Wow. I can't believe no-one has called Cena for using "Jon McCain " and "Integrity" in the same sentence.
John McCain caused deaths on the Forrestal, he was disloyal in Hanoi, and personally crashed or caused irreperable damage to 5 Navy aircraft.
He was a bad pilot that flew into power lines during training, and on another occassion crashed on an unauthorized landing.
He divorced his first wife while she was hospitalized, trading her in for a less-disfigured beauty.
I cannot say that that man is worthy of any modicom of respect.
You guys are still seriously replying to him!
Gas in California has been at .15 for over a year. Piss off.
John McCain had to accept Palin to Cow tow to the Christian Right, but he was still more proven than Obama.
Harmlessman: I wouldn't have voted for Lincoln for his first term. I would have voted for Lincoln's 2nd term because unlike Obama he could actually accomplish stuff and start a war.
O bi-sexual rus: McCain blinked messages in Morse Code while he was making those forced statements for the Vietcong. He was still loyal.
Scrotum: I joined the finest branch of the service. They need the best people because they don't have the money the other branches get. We also take part in operations in Iraq making sure terrorists aren't sneaking weapons.
Cena: You joined which branch? America's finest is and always has been the Marine Corps.
Anyhow, I'll bet you are really glad that soon you'll be able to serve openly as a gay man.
Ocyrus: I'm not gay, but I have no problem serving next to gays. The Marines are the finest for their duty, but the Coasties are just as good for theirs. I could have been a Marine, but my calling was with the USCG.
Scrotum H. Vainglorious
Silly me, wishing you good luck thinking you were joining the Marines. Godammnit, get out of here you semen chugger.
Creating a web site is totally hacking.
Sort of like Daniel Ellsberg all over again. Look, some of the best journalism, maybe the best, is transgressive by nature. From Zenger to Woodstein.
So if Assange is found guilty of rape, does the person who exposed him go to jail? I'm not sure how this works anymore.
The media has done its job, then.
These are for you, sir.
This same CNN anchor, Jessica Yellin, in 2008:
When the lead-up to the war began, the press corps was under enormous pressure from corporate executives, frankly, to make sure that this was a war that was presented in a way that was consistent with the patriotic fever in the nation and the president's high approval ratings.
And my own experience at the White House was that, the higher the president's approval ratings, the more pressure I had from news executives -- and I was not at this network at the time -- but the more pressure I had from news executives to put on positive stories about the president.
Townsend claims that Wikileaks dumped these documents without reviewing them. When called on this, she jumps to a new argument that Wikileaks has "threatened" to release more, which confirms that she knew her first argument was wrong and she was just consciously lying.
I know that's obvious, and I know it's a very small part of what's going on in this video, but I felt it should be pointed out. Yellin, on the other hand, decided to leave it there.
I love how the anchor does a little mocking voice there when she quotes Assange at the beginning. WOW.
