I thought it was dead on, a great joke played straight enough, and elevated by the fact that, apparently, you really can do this to your nerf gun.

Incidentally, what led me to this was his wonderful cat videos. It as if he combed the shelters for cats that would look really funny on camera.

I did this and more to my nerf maverick. If you remove the posts from the barrels it also increases air flow and helps the darts travel farther. I just wish i could bring my nerf guns to the office instead of just shooting them past my cat to watch him chase the darts.

Sawed off the excess plastic (which is basically the barrel after the yellow lines), and fitted some PVC pipe over the stem that allowed me to put in regular-size darts.

Motherfucker left WELTS.
