Thankyou. We libertarians have been calling out the Republicans on that for years. Pisses me off that the man doing it is a liberal named Weener.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-02-24

Libertarians are parasites on society.

Cena_mark - 2011-02-24

Parasites? We work, we produce, we create. And all we want is to keep most of what we make and for the government not to squander our tax dollars. “The king's cheese is half wasted in parings; but no matter, 'tis made of the people's milk.”

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-02-24

My mistake.

Libertarians are delusional, self-obsessed parasites on society.

Cena_mark - 2011-02-24

I'm not talking about the neckbearded, basement dwelling, Rand thumpers. I'm talking about the ones making a living and kicking ass everyday. The ones feed the leaches everyday through their hard labors.

simon666 - 2011-02-24

"We work, we produce, we create. And all we want is to keep most of what we make..."

Dude, Cena, that is some straight up Marxism right out of 'The German Ideology.'

I kid you not. Marx felt what makes man different from animals is his ability to produce his own subsistence. Which means what he produces, what he creates for himself is his most natural way of existing. But when the products of what he makes are taken from him, this causes him, in essence, a psychological harm.

5 for you.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2011-02-24

Cena, other people work, produce, and create. You just live off of tax payer dollars playing sailor in a yellow dingy

Konversekid - 2011-02-24

The only difference is Libertarians, think the government is responsible for the product of their work being taken from them and wish that a self-driven Capitalist should be in control. While communists believe the people who initially made the product should be in control of it through populist state structure.

So Cena is conscious of the same problems as a communist is, only he childishly thinks it is the government that causes this problem because they try to intervene in the injustice.

Regardless, this entire thread makes capital owners look like free riders.

Cena_mark - 2011-02-24

Simonsays: You're referring to the hypothetical vision of Communism. You know the one that has never ever succeeded in making people prosperous and free.
Scrotum: Some people must protect the freedom to create, produce, invent, and make money. I'm one of those people. And most producers have no problem paying me for that. The people who they despise paying are the welfare brood mares who give them nothing in return.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2011-02-24

lol

Cena_mark - 2011-02-24

What do you mean lol. I'm not one of those Hyper Libertarians who believe everything should be 100% private enterprise. I believe there are things that the government should provide for the people like highways and national defense.

simon666 - 2011-02-24

Cena, this is where you show your ignorance. I'm not referring to Communism, nor some hypothetical version of it. I'm saying that your comment agrees with Karl Marx's criticism of Ludwig Freurerbach and the Young Hegelians in "The German Ideology." What Marx was criticizing was Freuerbach's ideas about how things should be is was disconnected from the real existing world, meaning Freuerbach was too caught up in his head, in ideas about man's freedom and not concerned with the material reality man lived in and its relation to his freedom. See, Marx was advocating a common sense, where we concern ourselves with how things actually are and how they prevent man's freedom.

But if you feel more comfortable talking about Communism, we can do that. Could you explain for all of us here at PoeTV what the communist-consciousness was intended to achieve in regards to Marx's criticisms of the Young Hegelians?

Cena_mark - 2011-02-24

I won't B.S. you Simon. I know absolutely nothing about that. I do however know enough about Communism to know whatever cute philosophies it was based on it was wrong.

augias - 2011-02-25

Pffff, that's like saying dogs are shit because French Bulldogs exist.

voodoo_pork - 2011-02-25

You guys should really argue more.

Konversekid - 2011-02-25

That is the first time I have heard the work of Hegel and industrialization reactionists as cute.

Also,

I know nothing about communism, but I do know that it and everything associated with it was wrong. It didn't manifest into anything and I'm going to champion capitalist ideals that cause the problems which I'm against just because the Cold War has settled the matter.- A paraphrase of Cena_mark

Cena_mark - 2011-02-25

Why don't you guys read something long and boring that defends capitalism and then see if you still hold your commie beliefs.
Oh you won't? I rest my case.

simon666 - 2011-02-25

Cena, I appreciate your honesty in admitting you don't know Marx. However, one thing you keep doing is opposing Marx with Capitalism, while this is not the argument I'm having. My point is not "Look how Marx *can* make sense therefore Marxism is better than Capitalism." My point is Marx has some good points and you don't have to be an advocate of Communism to appreciate them, AND that at some point you can't just offer up ideas against other ideas to solve the problems of the world, but have to actually deal with the real world, because the real world conditions are what dictate what can be done and how.

Innocent Bystander - 2011-02-25

Yo, Cena, did you know that the early American settler colonies operated on what can only be described as communism? They had small communities with commonly shared resources. Ditto early Christian churches.

Billie_Joe_Buttfuck - 2011-02-24

That last line is the best thing I have heard all week.

Pillager - 2011-02-24

The GOP needs to learn from Reagan.

Talk tough about abortion, but don't actually do anything about it.

Cena_mark - 2011-02-24

That actually sounds like a great Idea. Nothing can be done about abortion anyways.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-02-24

The GOP needs to learn from Reagan and die.

Chalkdust - 2011-02-25

they've already got the rambling incoherency part down

cognitivedissonance - 2011-02-25

No amount of legislation will actually END abortion. The rich will just have "appendectomies" and the poor will go to prison.

The Mothership - 2011-02-24

5 for some solid oratory.

poorwill - 2011-02-24

I realise there is a fair amount of crossover between 'boo big gummint' and 'save the babbies' folks, but the people who earnestly believe that flushing a fetus is murder aren't gonna be swayed by this - they will just point out that he's excluding the babby from the private doctor/patient relationship and deal with the cognitive dissonance by picking the principle that seems the most important.
Not that any of them have any principles that aren't just attempts at rationalising and spit-polishing total moral degeneracy anyway - appealing to principles, or pointing out contradictions within them is just a waste of time. They will do whatever is expedient for them, always, and scream shrilly when anybody else dares do the same.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-02-25

We collectively ask our leaders to behave with virtue, yet we, individually, request exceptions to said virtue in our own teeny little cases.

poorwill - 2011-02-25

Politicians are not leaders, they are lawmakers. If they like the law so much, they had better goddamn marry it.

Ursa_minor - 2011-02-24

I love Weiner with his messy little jewfro.
Motherfucker can orate like hell, and shut a Mr. Johnson the fuck down like hell.
