Toenails: Nobody in their right mind in colonial Boston would have thought that the Tea Party guys were Native Americans. It was largely symbolic. Images of Native Americans were used as a symbol of the New World in general.

Also the leaders of the actual Boston Tea Party guys would have hated everything the Teabaggers stand for.
