Technically this is specifically from "Robot", the Hindi dub. Having only seen it in the original Tamil (a couple of times now), it's extra weird hearing the song sound different.
Believe it or not, some of the musical numbers in his previous film "Sivaji" were even crazier. There's one where he's got 30-40 male dancers bouncing around with his face painted on their abdomens.

The movie going experience in India is incredible, and much more of a social experience than in western theaters. The theaters are either extravagant - recliners, love seats, bottle service - or simply huge enough to fit large audiences.
Going to a Bollywood (or Tamil) movie is an EVENT - the audience cheers, laugh, and talks through the entire movie. This isn't a problem, as the volume is extremely loud, and the audience participation is infectious. I couldn't understand any of the movies we were seeing, but it didn't matter - simply being in the audience was an experience in of itself.
